Well I guess I am going to be a big schmuck because I renewed my tickets for next season. One way or another with management mistakes or not, this upcoming season was going to be a rebuild. As I said before there will probably be some lean nights at the Scotiabank Centre, but I still enjoy the aspects of rebuilding a team, having great draft picks and watching players develop. That will be enough to keep my interest until we come around again with a competitive team. I renewed. But difference is for the coming season they know what they are and I know what they will be and am OK watching a rebuild. The atmosphere they create for players and fans will be that of transitional team. Last season was my least enjoyable season watching because the on ice product was missing something. The players didn't seem to ever truly buy into what they were doing or were confused of what they were doing. Never thought that team had the ingredients in the room or on the bench to get beyond that. I expected them to lose in round 2 and they didn't even win a game in the playoffs. WE can get behind any product as long as its true to itself.

If you love the product and have fair expectations for the season buy all the tickets you want and enjoy the nights out. Junior hockey is as cyclical for some fans as it is for the players coming through. If our ISP's took honest efforts to curb piracy you'd probably see more people attending games live and/or buying webstreams and putting more revenue into these lower leagues.

If Rimouski can afford Cataford and Gauthier they're getting a great price for both.
Getting trades done in June would make for a very long season next year. But for the future of the team it makes sense.

But for the future of the team it makes sense. They must be getting an insane discount if they get both, it’s not like they have a stockpile of picks to work with. I can’t see Gauthier ending up there as well, but we’ll see.

I was watching big the eagles final Press conference and seems it's all but guaranteed Cataford is traded to Rimouski. They asked sly if he would trade the 1st overall pick for him and he said he's already traded.

Some rumours are really starting to roll in with the team. It sounds like 3 key players will be playing on different teams next year. The biggest question is what is coming back? I’m not 100% sure on the total return for MacKinnon and Videck but I know our 2026 picks back. I suspected at least one more pick will be coming back too. Not sure what that pick is some are saying it’s Moncton’s 2026 1st rounder.
Cataford is heavily rumoured to be heading to Rimouski. My guess is the 10th pick is coming our way along with Goguen and Kennedy some how.
That would put this team in a very interesting position for the 2025/26 season and maybe beyond. Next year will more than likely be a down year but with players that are already in the system and the ones that can be added it could be a quick turnaround. Let’s take a Quick Look at the potential players this team could have for 2025/26.
The forwards could look something like this.
Levesque 19 Moser 19 Fontaine 19 Kennedy 19 (maybe)(probably) Kilfoil 18 Goguen 18
Sure some players need to step up like Fontaine who should get way more ice time this year. These name IMO are a good foundation to start with. Also I did add a name like Crosby as a 20yo only because he might get traded this year. However I think he’s a soils bet to be here as a 20yo that year. Then you have to think they add a solid 16yo forward at this years draft with the Rimouski pick. Then the 2025 pick will be a high one. Not saying it will definitely be a forward but chances are. I haven’t even touched on what the plans are for the euro draft.
Now let’s look at the defence.
Phillips 19 Mackenzie 19 Doyle 18
Once again I’m leaving out a key possible 20yo in Martin who would be the anchor and probable captain if not traded this year too. You’d have to think Cam will add a euro defender in the next 2 seasons also have to think he will add at least one Rotation guy this year.
When you look at it this way there’s 2 massive questions left for the team. Who’s the next goaltender of this team. I think this is going to be addressed by Christmas. Either through drafting him this Q draft or maybe euro draft. But definitely when they hopefully trade Rousseau their next guy is part of said trade.
The other massive hole that needs to be filled is who will coach the team? That has been very mum. There’s been no rumours on any front runner. I expect someone to be hired in the next 2 to 3 weeks buts there’s been no talk about coaching lately. People seem more interested in the trade talk lately and the coaching talk has slipped to the back seat. I’m sure the team is actually pretty happy about that. They can sneak someone in under the radar.

Probably an NCAA kid but a possible reward for having a below par 2024-2025 season.

Wow yeah quite the stats. Hopefully the Mooseheads will be stocking up some picks for the 2025 draft with some of these trades coming up.

Also great pickup up for Cape Breton who should be hunt to go along way next year . if Halifax were Smart they entertain that if cam and sly talk , if the Rimouski deal isn’t done then cam got to be talking to Cape Breton for that 1st overall pick , he would be foolish not to , cataford would help cape Breton tremendously, I think a deal can be made there , let’s hope

I haven't heard Alec Nasreddinne's name mentioned recently - it seemed at last year's training camp he might be interested in Halifax. On the other hand, probably a big ask to give up NCAA eligibility to go to a rebuilding team.
