Natural to take a look at the future after a series like that. I like it. Lets look forward.
Current 2024-25 roster:
Levesque (18) - Vidicek (20) - Cataford (19) Sprynar (E) (19) - MacPhee (20) - Crosby (19) Kilfoil (17) - McPhee (19) - Todd (19) Welsh (19) - Fontaine (18) - Moser (18)
Schultz (20) - MacKinnon (19) Martin (19) - Phillips (18) Boucher (18) - MacKenzie (18)
Rousseau (20) Milner (19)
I added MacPhee in the lineup in case one or more of the 20s are already traded. He's a heart & soul player and I can see him being on the team if there is a slot available. If Vidicek, Schultz and Rousseau are still here in September unfortunately MacPhee will be gone.
Lots of variables. Some players may be traded at the draft or in August. Vidicek and/or Rousseau may go pro. Those variables will determine how much of a scorched-earth rebuild Halifax should do. Vidicek, Cataford, Schultz & MacKinnon are fair game and should be shopped if they are still here.
Sprynar will be 19 and if he takes a bit step forward he may be a good 19 year old Euro available and could be traded if the price is right. Not mandatory.
Crosby is a very good candidate to put on some muscle in the next year or two and could be a very good 20 year old next year. You never get enough value for him this year thus he's probably staying.
Jack Martin looked decent in the Bathurst series and may improve with more quality ice time. I see him being a 20 candidate in 2025-26 during a rebuild year. I don't him going anywhere unless there is an over-payment which I can't picture at this point.
I saw a comment that no one is off the table even Levesque, Kilfoil & Phillips. Kilfoil is 17 and Halifax traded up to get him. He isn't going anywhere in my opinion. Levesque is 18 and will be a big part of this team's offense in the next couple seasons. I think he stays and you revisit at Christmas 2025-26 depending on his perceived value. Phillis is 18 and will be given every opportunity on the powerplay and possibly on the top pair next year. I don't think he's going anywhere and again, we'll revisit Christmas 2025-26 de pendant on his value.
There is room here for Halifax to be set up for years to come. It will be said... "Who would want to pay for Halifax's top stars when they flopped last year and didn't show any character?" Impossible to measure accurately. It all depends on the trade market and the types of players available. It's a Memorial Cup year. In 2019 Halifax was told by many to pay more because they were hosting. So lets pretend that also applies this year. Halifax are the sellers this time and should get a very good return for their available players.

Eddy Doyle - will more likely be a player on the team over Boucher. Bouchers developemnet was not great least year. Eddy Doyle has the ability to be a great player if he puts some muscle on. Hes tall can score and really did well in u18 this year. Alec Nasreddine - could be a great player as well. The questioin here is will he come to camp. Colin Brodeur - Has size played a physical game this year with u18, doesnt put points up but is more of a shut down guy. James Chase - Still has not committed to any School, has size and skill, always showed well when he came to camp. Sam Madgett and Olivier St-Onge are both Goalis that have size and had great years.

I’m interested to see the final details and just how much of a blockbuster the trade with Moncton was. The rumour is MacKinnon going back but, I mean it could be bigger than that. Should be interesting.
Anyone know how strong or deep the draft is this year?

The Barron brothers chose a different path so we never now.

If we’re going to talk about the next season we need to talk about the futures. People at least one player is heading to Moncton and maybe 2. The return will be the picks that they sent to Moncton at least and maybe more picks. I’m not going to name said player but you’ll be able to contact the dots in this post.
Here’s the biggest question. What do they do with Rousseau? Do they sell him on draft day to make sure they get something or do they hold on to him and hope someone wants him come trade period. My worry is no team have room or want a 20yo goalie. If you look through the league there’s plenty of 20yo goalies who aren’t that big of a drop from Rousseau. If The Moose hold him till December we could be like PEI with Horth this year and Biakabutuka the year before. I think he gets traded at the draft personally.
Next is Cataford. I personally fell Cataford is this up coming season Desnoyers of 2 years ago. Just in this case I don’t see anyway Halifax keeps him! I think he’s the best player who can be available. My today prediction is he will end up on Rimouski, and watch for Kennedy coming back at the 2025 draft. Mark this down I’m saying it first here.
The next player I wonder about is Sprynar. Do teams think he’s a good option for a euro player and maybe rather him than picking a guy late. The team I look at here is CB. I think he is a fit for them on their 2nd line and could probably give them 25 maybe 30 goals. The problem is they have a stud defencemen who might be back and a very good goalie who might be forced to backup another year and maybe needs a new home. If not I by all means bring him back and he helps the team have any okay year.
I think Schultz is the only 20yo player we have that is a lock to start the year with the team. I don’t think he gets traded at the draft but come September I think a contender will bite the bullet and grab him to run their PP. I know that sounds crazy after Halifax went ohfer on the PP in the playoffs, but that wasn’t because of Schultz. It was the teams schemes. He’s a stud back there. I think Schultz will be the team captain.
Another thing that I feel is something to watch come draft day. The Simon’s have yet to get up on that podium to make a first round pick yet. My opinion is Peter wants that attention to make that pick so watch for a trade to get in the 1st round this year.
The way I see this teams make up I actually think it could be one bad year then maybe back in talks as a contender. I think a player or 2 as futures for the 2025 draft would make this team very interesting with what could be left over from the 24/25 season.
Here’s who I think are still here for the 25/26 season
Logan Crosby 05 Lou Levesque 06 Antoine Fontaine 06 Cade Moser 06 Liam Kilfoil 07
Jack Martin 05 Owen Phillips 06 Dom MacKenize 06 Eddy Doyle 06
Goal is wide open
That’s a good start with out know what we draft this year and 2 open euro spots. Then like I said add 2 futures there like maybe a Kennedy this team becomes very interesting. Also there’s room for another 20yo in this group. I think it’s a great development year for whoever the new coach will be.

Would they have what it takes to land both Cataford and Gauthier? Also, Rimouski is planning to run for it 2 years in a row so I doubt Kennedy would be available.

That second import slot will be interesting. Bringing in a Euro goalie could be on the table, especially if Rousseau gets dealt over the summer.

Some people on the french board are talking about a rumour suggesting Cataford might be heading to Rimouski. For him it would make sense that he would prefer Rimouski to CB or Moncton. He’s a Quebec kid and they’re Mem Cup hosts.

He’s a Quebec kid and they’re Mem Cup hosts. This is just my take on this matter. I don’t think there’s even been talk about such matter yet. I don’t think Halifax even finished exit interviews yet. My guess is Cam and the Simon’s have to do that sit down figure out the coaching situation, then Cam can start going to team to see what offers might be there at the draft. In all honesty Rimouski is basically in the same boat. Way too early to say he’s going anywhere yet. However when you play connect the dots it fits. Him or Gauthier are 1-2 for the 2005 born players in the league. You have to think Rimouski would want both them on there team. I think the way to look at this is who would Rimouski like to target to strengthen their team. And Cataford being out would be the first name to start talking about. Also you poop pooped my Kennedy as a future talk before but I don’t know if you know this, Kennedy is the son of Travis Kennedy who is number 2 to Brian Urquhart.

I never thought I would ever reach a point where I was more pissed off with this organization than I was in 2008 but here we are.
I still went to most of the games over the 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 seasons.
As of right now I will only renew if the following conditions are met:
1) New coach. 2) A strong signal that the team is doing a complete rebuild so trades made at the draft.
The Mooseheads have to earn my money back after the last season of complete garbage. I just saw three Habs games , 2 of which ended up being duds due to bad 2nd periods, but it was a way better fan experience than what I got for showing up to Mooseheads games all year.
The arrogance that this teams marketing department had with their communications to me with respect to renewals makes me want to punch them square in the face.

Tell us how you really feel !! lol I’m with you on the coaching, the hockey was terrible. I thought something similar, if they bring that guy back they can have my deposit, I don’t know much about coaching, but all year I saw a confused, disjointed, unmotivated, not confident team. Maybe part of that was expectations, but those were justified. The really need to make some changes to “change the stink in the air” if you will. Cam or someone in the organization could make a statement something along the lines that, things didn’t go well last year and we have learned some things and we are moving forward.

Do they still give out season ticket and 15 pack holder gifts?
