Stephens first star with hat trick...but no star for Brannon with two goals, biggest hit in the game and great PK work? What the... I know eh? I thought Brannon definitely deserved a star. I'm not trying to take away from Matt Eagles, because he did have a good game, but I thought Brannon was maybe more deserving.

What a way to start the season off! A neat light show to start the game off.. nicely done. I thought they should have had something said about Luc Bourdon.. actually a little surprised nothing was done. And for the game itself, we got production out of different guys. Stevens went from a guy on the bubble.. to scoring a hattrick. I can definitely see some progression from him since last season. I thought Matt Eagles was all over the ice. Brannon had a monster of a game.. 2 goals and some nice hits. We didn't really seem to be missing Barberio out there too much. I thought guys like Downe, Dimitruk and Gormley had strong games. I know it's only one game, but I was impressed by what I saw. Now let's hope we can continue on. And hey.. we're the highest scoring team in the league! ;D

Brannon was more deserving. We were like WTF! Had two breakaways, hit scored played PK and was a force most of the night. I think someone has a man crush on Eagles. Think he played a good game but Brannon stood out more IMO.

Brannon deserved a Star before Eagles IMO.
Great game by Cats, except for the 5 mins break down in beginning of 2nd. Brannon Excellent game, if he contributes like this on a regular basis, it would help the team drastically. Ted Stephens, a Hat Trick, Wow. From getting 5 pts all last year to a Hat Trick in opener. I gotta give the kid some credit. I thought MacAusland played a really good game as well, I think he'll prove a few critics wrong this year. He shows a lot of heart on the ice with his small stature.
All around good game. Hope it continues though the season.

Stephens 3 Goals and 1 Assist tonight. He had 5 points all last season. Wow, hope he can contribute and a regular basis.

Nice to see Boyle stand up for him when they popped his head back. A lot of fun to see returning players playing with confidence. Steep learning curve for the D but awesome to see the skill level to skate and create time and space. The forwards are benefiting all ready from the mobile D.

Your right about MacAusland, he looked like a million bucks. Roski put a couple beautiful passes on sticks for two of the goals. Petterson looked good, Rio looked confident, vets hustled especially Brannon and Lessard, defense was strong but still young. All in all a great start. I liked that Boyle stepped up after MacAusland was hit.

I thought Lessard had a strong game. I didn't realize he was as fast as he looked tonight( or the PEI D were really slow). He really finished his checkswell. On D I thought Savard was a real leader.

Stevens rewarded some of the faith Flynn had with him tonight. Hopefully he can use the added confidence to have a 40-50 point year, he's already 10% of the way there. ;D I agree with the poster that said we should cut our losses with MacAusland

Did somebody put rocket fuel in Lessard's skates? He was flying out there. Those who hoped he was on thin ice will be disappointed since he was wearing an A tonight.
Very impressed with the effort out there tonight.
Most rookies had an excellent first game. Famin seems to have a nose for the net and very good hands.
I liked Jodoin's game.
As for honouring Bourdon, I was disappointed that they didn't do it. However, I think they wanted to start the season as a celebration and will honour him at a later game.

Really liked what I saw , great game all around. I also think that Brannon deserved the star more than Eagles did IMO. Can't wait to see what next game brings to the table.

Let's just hope we didn't put all our eggs into one basket.. sorta speak. Let's hope we still have a few goals left for the game tomorrow night.

Oh and on another note.. I really like the play of Famin. He looked a lot more comfortable out there than the exhibition game I seen him play in. He's got some good moves up his sleeve.
