depends...on how many teams decide they want a 20... I think 20 year old forwards will cost more than 20 year old d-men... Joly Gratchev Chabot Petit...not a ton of forwards available On defense, Gervais Legault Paris Pender Lessard Ouimet Bolduc Mallette and possibly Rioux could all be on the market

in the AN flynn mentioned that the prices for the player or players he was inquiring about were to high. 3 young players +picks.

depends on what players he is referring to...that is almost certainly the price for Grant/Bourdon/Dido/Byron for Moncton...though depending on whether he is willing to use roster players, that could be what it costs to do business...
Personally, I think Moncton should go for it to make sure they don't end up in our shoes next year...sure, you will have talent, but you won't have Sill, Eagles, or potentially Riopel...losing two hard working forwards and your star goalie could be devastating in how far the team falls...besides, you have plenty of assets to deal with...

Not sure what the prices are but I think Moncton should go for it! If at all possible! Don't wait til next year I think that was a big mistake we made we were closer last year then we are this year!

I don't think the Cats are going to add any huge pieces in the next few weeks via blockbuster trades. If you look at our record since the beginning of November, it is something along the lines of 10-6; we have come back down to earth since our torrid start, and I am beginning to feel we aren't quite on par with the top teams ... if they load up, I think we would need to match them or possibly even add more than them in order to be favoured in a playoff series. I think we will make an addition or two, but I think they will be for guys outside the top tier ... I'd be surprised if we added Bourdon, Grant, Dido, Byron types ...

You guys all seem to think that Saint John had a great offense coming into this year. The offense last year was mostly all from their 20 and Dido. The problem with Saint John this year is they had to buy a couple of key fowards at the last draft which they didn't do.
If you think about it Moncton will not be another Saint John. If they keep what they have they are set in every position.
A quality reloading team is usually 7/1617 - 7/18 -7/19 -3/20
This is pretty much what Moncton has for next year with top end talent. I would stay pat during the trade period or do very minor tweeks.
This year should be considered gravy for all the success we have.
Our production has been coming from basically everyone. Its not another Saint John. Keep the guys toghether!

The only mistakes St.John made is not adding forward depth at the draft and their coach putting up with lazy work habits.

Heard a few random ones at the game...
One has them pushing hard on Cisse and Voynov(no surprise), one or both would impact the organisation, Cisse moreso in 1/2-2 years. This would be adding prime assets at no cost. Cisse only has 3 assists and is a -7 in 13 games in Des Moines, maybe he is not happy there, might be the perfect time to lure him here. Voynov is a long shot IMHO, but it would be like adding the biggest player on the trade market and not giving up any assets.
I also heard a rumor that Jezegou is headed here, another rumor had it for Downe. Jezegou would be a nice player to add, I just wonder what kind of impact he could have on a contender. I'm sure he'd be an upgrade on Lahey.

Are they trying to convince LA he's not ready for the AHL when it seems that he clearly is? The only thing I can really think of is that the Cats can guarantee we'll be in the playoffs and he'll play a very important role. Obviously Jezegou has had quite a breakout season for the Titan but like you I'm not sure of his impact. If we were to acquire a 20 year old forward from Bathurst I would be more interested in Joly as he is a proven goal scorer.

Where was Lahey last night? he has a concussion I do believe. That's what I heard Flynn say, but it could be a cover up for a deal.

I'm very resistent to trade off Downe. He seems to be a big part of Moncton's future. I would much rather keep Lahey. He is doing great IMO. The only problem with Lahey is that he doesn't have enough ice time. Give him more ice time and his stats would be quite different.
