I could see the Moose trading the 3rd overall Euro pick for a Amyot type player. Fortunately the Mooseheads don't have an ignoramus GM who is trying to save his job by trading valuable picks away for stop gap players

Apparently, according to John Moore, Jeff MacLeod is trading in his coaching duties and has moved over to the scouting side of the operation. It looks like Russell wants to beef up the scouting staff with all of the high picks they have in June. Troini will replace MacLeod on the bench.

I was wondering the other night in the CB game where MacLeod was because they had Troini behind the bench. I thought maybe hitting midseason, they decided to switch the 2 and have MacLeod as that "eye in the sky" coach, and give Troini some time behind the bench. Good to hear they want the scouting staff beefed up. The more eyes the better.

MacLeod has actually resigned to seek other hockey related opportunities, but will do some scouting on behalf of the Mooseheads. I guess when he has the time while looking for another job. Something must have happened

I have a funny feeling Cam will shop the euro pick and want to bring Knotek back. Just a gut feeling I have. I don't like the idea, and I hope they either manage to trade Knotek or he stays in the Czech Republic, but for some reason I think Cam would rather have Knotek back as a 20. There are a few benefits of him coming back. For one, you know what you're getting. Also the euro draft can be a crap shoot a lot of times. Players and agents say they'll come but then they dont, the transition to North American hockey, the cultural changes for these young kids etc etc. Just because we have a high pick, doesn't mean we're guarnteed to hit a home run and get a high end 17 yr old, projected 1st rd NHLer. I can see the tempation to have Knotek back, but in the long run, with all the youth (and will be getting), I think it'd be beneficial to use the pick and keep the movement going. Well I hope Cam does the smart thing and moves on from Knotek. Everyone knows next year isn't our year there looking to the 11/12 season. So why not get another young impact euro that will be able to grow and help the team the next season. If they can trade Knotek for something and he reports go with that if not he did great while he was here. Now back to my question what are some names that could be picked? Anybody know some?

Alexander Nogolov is the consensus #1.

Alexander Nogolov is the consensus #1. Is he looking to come over this way and play the chl before the jump to the show? To add to the last post I made here's another point I just thought of. The have a chance to bring a guy over that puts asses in seats. And after the ass kicking big bobby's pocket took this year I think he's going to push for that type of player. Let's face it people have ran to go see Tomas Knotek these pass two seasons.

While this is a tidbit shouldn't the full selection be available now from the leagues scouting, I was of the opinion that there was a list available at the midway mark of the season and a final list around April does anyone out there know where we can get the midway list ? Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance. There is a list released on DEC 1st that is only made available to the 18 teams and their staff. There is also a list that comes out around FEB 1st...but once again it isnt made available to the public. The first public list is put out on April 1st but it only ranks players in chunks. Divided by round 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6-9, 10-12 and others, however in each section the players are listed in alphabetical order. The second public list is released on May 1st and its the same as the April list, however the players are ranked, not put in alphabetical order.

As I went back to look at the article again, I noticed someone has commented that with some stickhandling we might be able to acquire both Ciampini and Burke could this be a reality or would the cost be beyond reason or could we posssibly trade say an Amyot and our early 2nd round pick for a 3rd 1st rounder or would it take more, thoughts ?

Probably more...if Halifax is looking to get into the top 5 than youd be looking at Gabriel Desjardins or a Carl Gelinas going the other way plus probably the 19th pick...doesnt make much sense. If you look back to 2008, Rouyn-Norands traded the 6th overall pick to Quebec for 13th and 28th picks plus Lecomte who was probably worth a 3rd on his own...than Quebec traded that same pick (6th overall) to Lewiston for the 10th pick, 54th pick and a 5th rd pick... To get into the top 5 to get a chance at both Burke and Ciampini Halifax would have to deal something similar to 10th pick, 54th pick + 5th or 13th pick, 28th pick and Lecomte...but every year is different. In 2008 I wouldnt have minded dealing down from 6 to 10, or 6 to 13...but this season it seems as though getting that top 5 pick will be at a premium. Im not enamoured with Ciampini and think Gamelin is the better of the 2 because he will have a 5 year type impact and could be a Benoit Doucet/David Desharnais type. I think ISS is overrating Fraser...he plays a polished game because he played in the league last year as a 14 year old but i dont think he has more upside than Poulin. Of course if any of what I just said turns out to be true I doubt youll dig up this thread and quote me, but im anticipating you dragging it back up if I get one thing wrong.

Also 1 other trade up that cost a team an arm and a leg happened in 2008 as well, but i chose not to use it as it was Bathurst and they overpaid colossally...
11th overall pick for 26th pick, 53rd pick and 1st in 2009 (4th overall).
