I noticed that Philip Zielonka is no longer playing in the states, he currently with a team in the BCHL. I wonder if there's any chance ,since he's playing in Canada again, that he joins the Cats after Christmas ? He's a 93' born and would likely be an impact player that could play on our second line... Thoughts ? He is committed to Harvard next year so it would probably take a lot to pry him away. Like a cell phone and some flights for his parents?  |

Garrett Johnston 27 gp 5 goals 15 assists - 20 points as a 17 year old in the MJHL For Novemeber he was the Defenceman of the month and Rookie of the Month. mjhlhockey.ca/Really picked things up since signing with us.. |

I don't think we'll see him in a Wildcats jersey...14 GP 4-6-10 and playing 1st pair at BC. No reason for him to leave there.

Not sure what the problem is with Gabriel Gagne, looked like a great package but not a ton of drive...seems to be translating to his MAAA season...
29 GP 11-9-20 30 PIMS
A 2nd round QMJHL pick should be doing better than that in MAAA. Smells like a bust so far.
Teammate Beaudoin on St.Eustache is doing a bit better...30 GP 8-14-22 36PIMs
Best trade assets not in the Q look like McCabe Pugsley Simpson and Hynes.

Summerside wasn't the best place for his development because they're stacked and contending so I agreed with his decision to play AAA. Miramichi is a better place for him since he'll get a bit more ice time , especially since he's likely to make the Wildcats next year.. |

With 9 returning forwards and the likes of other prospects like Beaudoin, Simpson, Hynes, Pitre, Pugsley all doing well plus free agents, it came a bit surprising. It's going to be another very competitive camp. |

Jaskin should be on the Special Euro list ... should he not ?
I guess if we only have 10 draft picks no sense in making more room than we need. Johnston will likely come off of the list in a few days.
Are there any notable deletions that anybody can see ?

Nothing earth shattering ... Deruelle and Cam MacDonald appear to both be officially dropped, in case anyone thought they may get an invite to camp to try and win the 3rd 20 y/o spot. Local kids Mansbridge and Beckwith are no longer on the list ... Thomas Stavert would probably be the biggest surprise IMO ... and Jordan Labbe was a fairly high pick but has twice failed to impress at camp - no idea what kind of season he had, but if it was unimpressive, perhaps the team has seen enough and moved on. Re: Zielonka - the memory of getting burned by Cisse is probably still fresh - may as well keep him for another six months in case he changes his mind - could always get a draft pick out of another team if he wanted to play somewhere close to home. |
