If the screens arent up, all you gotta do is after a goal just look up to where the screens used to be and picture the what the replay would be like.

How difficult would it be to flip a switch and broadcast the video portion of the webcast ?

How difficult would it be to flip a switch and broadcast the video portion of the webcast ? Not very difficult, but at the same time, what's the point of having a webcast that doesn't have replays, it'd just be like watching the game from start to finish live...unless these webcasts are going to be fully manned and they have a switcher to cue up replays...which in theory could work...otherwise its a waste of time...at the CCC i think we are all close enough to the action to see it live in front of us, who would bother watching it live on a screen?

I used to watch live when the play was in a part of the rink that was blind to me. Otherwise, it didn't normally happen. The replays were the best and most important part of having the screens, and without them I don't think it would be worth it.

From what I understand is the webcast are going to be done with no replays unless someone at Telus is doing it. The camera is the same one that the coach uses and they are not putting on any replay equipment and staff from what I was told.

yeah so there you go, not much sense in getting the replay screens back up in action unless they have actual replay capabilities...otherwise they are just big, live, TV screens....something that is generally unneccessary in a rink that only holds 3500 people

Either way, no excuse for not having them. There are rinks/teams in the CHL that are having video put on their center ice score boards. Alot of rinks are not able to do this because of the size of the building, but those places are putting up screens for the fans to see the replays and such. Meanwhile here in Rocketland they are taking them away from the fans. Whether they cost money or not, no excuse for the team to not go out and work something out sponsor-wise to get them back up for the fans.

Heres a better idea
Burn the Civic Centre Hire a better and smarter designer Rebuild the place
But thats too imaginary. We won't even switch the lightbulbs in the scoreboard or get the screens back up in running. What's next, the Fog Horn starts not to work. lol

Hindsight is 20/20 with Civic Centre...damn thing was built back in 1990 when the likelihood of an AHL franchise or Q Team wasn't even a quiver of a thought...I'm trying to think back to the days when the Abbies were the go to team in Ch'town or to some of those awesome Panther runs of the early to mid 90's and i can't recall people being so incessant on their hatred towards the building.
Fact of the matter is this, there has been tons and tons of money sunk into the building to try and make it more user friendly over the years, so the idea of a new rink anytime soon is just a flash in the pan. Lots of kinks, but its not just one or two people living with it, its everyone. The lights have been changed in the clock. AS long as there is power, the fog horn won't die. Debate the video screens all you like, we did without them the majority of last season and it didn't kill anyone, considering it was only a couple of years with them up there anyways, prior to that we had nothing. Let's not be overly crass here folks.

The lack of care by all involved in the building project at the time was incredible. We get one chance in a lifetime at a major facility like the CCC. It's a shame, really.

The lack of care by all involved in the building project at the time was incredible. We get one chance in a lifetime at a major facility like the CCC. It's a shame, really. Just a little background . The year was 1987 and the Secretary of States Office who have quite a bit to say in the funding of Capital Projects, decided on how much money would be forthcoming for the facility to house the ice events for the games in 1990. The first thing they said was that they would be replacing the old Forum with a facility that would house more than three times the number of fans. Also the exhibition Committee had their say in the design because it was replacing the old Coliseum, which as we know as the horse and cattle shows.. It also had to tie into the new agrina complex. Thus the end result. As Darcy has pointed out, at that time there was not even a rumor that we would have an AHL Franchise or that we would ever get a Major Junior team. The focus at the time was Canada Games and the we would have this brand new rink for MINOR HOCKEY and SKATING. Thus the resulting building we have today. If we could predict the future life would be grand.

No one was debating the civic centre it is what it is, but the fact that the rocket put in the replay screens and than stopped them is something else. I do recall last year they said the screens were not being used because something broke on them is that the case or is it more that the Rocket are not getting the sponsors so they have cut the screens? I am sure if they were used as a marketing they Rocket could make money of the screens.

Very interesting that they have speakers out in the lobby now that u can hear kirk announcing they should put cory on there when the season starts so u can listen to the play by play of the game maybe thats the idea i dunno. I really hope the screens return that would be awesome the Rocket org has to step up and do some of this stuff and get the fans back. Now ever who's idea it was with the bathrooms they are very nice Much better.
