Ya this just seems like the city trying desperately to fill the void of the Commandos leaving. If JR A didn't work in Dieppe I can't see senior hockey taking root either. Memramcook would make more sense but I believe they just lost a team a few seasons ago. What void ... nobody ever went ... a 200 person void ?

It's more of a political or status thing for the city to be able to say they have a "team" even if they play in front of crickets.

Or simply let minor hockey have the ice time and let them spread it across all divisions! Let the kids use it as the ice is for the community The ex commando's allocated ice times in Dieppe spread across the entire minor hockey programme, ringette, figure skating, and whatever else will not make any difference in the grand scheme of things, there's just to many teams and very limited ice for all. The solution is more ice surfaces, probably a minimum of 2 rinks but 3 would be ideal as the old centennial rink has gone way beyond it's life expectancy and will be shut down soon.
The good citizens of Memramcook were extremely generous in investing over $1 million renovating their rink so the citizens of Dieppe could use it for their minor hockey programme and ringette programme, all it took was tweaking the minor hockey program's name, I'm sure Sackville would have been just as accommodating to insert memramcook's name in their minor hockey programme for the use of the rink, that would have put Dieppe in a pickle. I fully realise there are memramcook kids using the rink as well but the # are extremely disproportionate compared to the # of Dieppe kids using the facility. Meanwhile Dieppe is busy building $ million dollar exterior skating ovals that don't work instead of rinks for the kids !!! Oh the humanity of politics .
Bottom line is The ice time allocated to one specific elite Bantam or Midget programme will make a big difference towards these kids development.
So the bantam major team has how many players from Dieppe on it? Last year 6,, Consider this before making your point onmemramcook! So you are you saying that only the few elite kids should get additional ice time? Major gets 4 hours per week. How much do the other bantam competitive team in Dieppe get? 1.5hrs, and rec even less! How is this representative of the community and the population.? Getting more ice time for a select few is not a fair way of distributing the ice

My point regarding ice time is that the x commandos ice time spread across the entire minor hockey system , ringette, figure skating and speed skating will not make a measurable difference as it will be spread out incredibly thin. This ice time was allocated by the city of dieppe and dieppe minor hockey as it's sponsors to an elite programme and should remain as such.

So all that really said was that Miramichi was out (didn't actually say that) and Bathurst was in ... all else is the same.
