Unless something has changed they will only take Lawrence at # 2 if they have a 100% commitment from him that he is reporting. At the year end town halls Georgie stated that they will not waste any more high picks on players that are undecided if Saint John is the place for them. Unfortunately the thing that's changed is his standing amongst his peers. Compared to the expectations set for him, he disappointed at the combine. Since he's been away at Selects Academy all year, there really hasn't been many eyes on him, he was the best Bantam aged player no question, but it looks like he really hasn't progressed and he's been dropping. If Lawrence were 100% committed to reporting SJ would be foolish to take him at 2. Maybe at 8 but even that there are players on a much better trajectory than him that will be available at 8. I agree that he didn’t have a good combine but I still think he’s the best prospect available in this draft... you can make arguments for other guys but if Lawrence was on the board at 8 and 100% coming to the Q, I’d 1) be shocked that he was still on the board and 2) be getting my pick in as soon as possible. His combine wasn’t good but I don’t have a 5 game stretch dropping him down my rankings.

Again, I haven't personally seen him all year, and the combine, where he's showcasing himself to people he has no interest in playing for, it may be that is why he had a poor tournament. He's phenomenally talented, no doubt, but I don't know if he's quite as good as some of the Quebec guys.

I wonder where will Bordeleau go? Signing with the USNTDP means he 100 % won't report in the Q at 16 so I doubt a team will waste a high pick on him.

I'll try my luck at this. Trades will be made but here's how I see the 1st round going down if it was held tomorrow:
1. Hendrix Lapierre - Chicoutimi
2. William Villeneuve - Saint John
3. Jeremie Poirier - Shawinigan
4. Lukas Cormier - Charlottetown
5. Patrick Guay - Sherbrooke
6. Pier Olivier Roy - Rouyn Noranda
7. Alex Drover - Cape Breton
8. William Dufour - Saint John
9. Jeremie Biakabutuka - Cape Breton
10. Charles Beaudoin - Chicoutimi
11. Mavrick Bourque - Shawinigan
12. Alexandre David - Halifax
13. William Provost - Val dOr
14. Marshall Lessard - Drummondville
15. Elliot Desnoyers - Halifax
16. Xavier Bourgault - Rimouski
17. Mavrick Gauthier - Val dOr
18. Lucas Mercuri - Moncton

I'm not doing a mock draft until after the HP list is released, however, I'll make a few notes -
I feel like Val-d'Or will want Provost, outstanding talent from the Amos region, but I think they may have to move up to do so.
Drover to Cape Breton makes sense, since he was telling people he'd play for anyone.
I think you have Maverick Bourque going to the right team, but at the wrong pick.
As you said, I fully expect there to be trades, I doubt Halifax picks in the 1st round.

I know you know about Halifax’s own pick being on the move but the RN pick I have been giving the impression they have a player in mind for that pick. So I know the whole building a team and everything but have you heard something on the them moving for a player?

pretty sure that 15th overall pick will be sent to Bathurst and flipped to Chicoutimi to complete the Galipeau deal, from what I heard anyways.

Halifax and Rimouski had the same amount of points and the tie break goes to Halifax so those spot flip the whole draft. I was wondering about the RN pick which I think is 12th?

I think Moncton trades up(they have extra picks) to grab a d-man closer to around 10-12th...

I do hope Cam is able to manage trading picks with keeping and making solid picks of our own so we can lessen the rebuild timeline.

I think Moncton trades up(they have extra picks) to grab a d-man closer to around 10-12th... That seems like a Cam thing to do and would be smart asset management in his position to flip that pick for more picks and still grab a player. I can totally see something like that playing out.

Anyone have a scouting report on Jeremie Biakabutuka? Seems like a big body with decent point totals.

List looks as bad as usual.

List looks as bad as usual. It's certainly interesting, but it goes to show how a lot of things are subjective. The HP list will look a lot different than this, and teams individual lists will look different than either. For example a guy like Ben Roode being in the second round, I can see that, but that depends on if you value potential over immediate impact. Roode is 6'4, but if he were a steak he'd be saw raw he'd still be moo-ing. Drover in the second round is a head scratcher no matter which way I slice it tho.
