I really hope Halifax gets the Mem Cup bid, because if the Cats do, then RKI and Shannon will destroy the future of this team for the next 6 years in a half ass attempt to build a winner. I can see RKI demanding we build a winner anyway in an effort to spoil Halifax's party. I think the best option is to work out a few deals with Halifax that helps them for next year (they don't need much help), and helps us for the year after. We will be a fairly strong team next year but not a contender ... and will have to empty to the cupboards to be a contender.

The most disappointing part(s) of this season...
1-being 4th or 5th from the bottom and not having their 1st rounder. Really frustrating that they lost the lottery last year and they messed up a chance to maybe win it this year.
2-being that low in the standings and having NOT developed much in terms of 16 and 17 year olds. Other than guys like Pelletier and Khovanov who were ready to contribute from day 1, who has grown by leaps and bounds since opening night? I can't think of one...Bellamy should be one, maybe Jacques also...but nope...went from 5 picks in the top 2 rounds and ended up with ONE player in the lineup...frustrating.
3-not developing a goalie behind Gametbauer. Waite is probably the worst goalie in the Q this year, why keep him as a back up instead of giving MacDonald(17) or Gaudreau(17) a chance and some experience.
4-getting worst as the season goes on...2-8-0 the last 10 despite a veteran team...in goal Grametbauer(19) plays in almost every game, on defense Welsh(20) Miromanov(20) Lecoultre(18-Euro) Sylvestre(19) and Aspirot(18) polay big minutes yet they give up a ton of shots and goals.

Hudson is one guy who has looked much better in the second half, I think he'll be a solid contributor next year. I find myself impressed with as a smaller guy he can really lay some big hits on much bigger guys. Does a little bit of everything and works hard. Other than that agree with the frustrations in your post. We might have lucked out a little getting 3rd in the lottery inside of 2nd as Pelletier is an amazing player..Poulin may be the more "pro prospect" in the longer run. Remains to be seen.

I think if Waite has a different last name he probably gets released mid-season ... hoping the family magic rubs off probably bought him more time. Someone in Cats management seems a bit star struck with relatives of former NHLers ... we tend to overdraft on them, and hang on to them longer than we should ...

Name one player you would like on next year's roster. Regardless of cost. Noah Dobson Agree on Dobson, but I don't think he's one of the possibilities. Apparently the Cats have 5 deals on the table with other teams contingent on the Cats getting the Memorial Cup bid(really can't see that happening, but who knows). If they win the bid, then the trades will be announced at the next trading period. I'm terrified that Pelletier will be gone as a future in one of these deals. I don't see what else the Cats have to offer. I am so looking forward to seeing Pelletier as a 19 year old in this league, but I will be very disappointed if it's with another team. It's unreal that he is doing what he's doing at just 16. He's going to be a beast.

Anything of value will be gone. As much as I would love for Moncton to host the Memorial Cup I think we all know it would be best if they did not. They would be paying astronomical prices just to try and catch up with the likes of Halifax, Drummondville, etc.

Hard to disagree with any of this. This has got to be up there as one of the all-time frustrating seasons in Cats history.

I have no idea what the cost is, but PO Joseph is rumoured to be one of the deals on the table. Crazy to say, but I really hope they lose the bid because like you say, I don't want to have to pay the price to make this team competitive with the front runners next year, cost will be way too high.
