Getting rid of Shannon means this is already a win this off-season. Good riddance, let him go destroy some other team. It will only be a win if Rumble goes as well - worst bench management in the league - does not have a clue how to motivate his players It will likely depend on who they bring as GM I would think they wouldn't want their fate tied to a guy they didn't choose. I think that Mr. Irving almost has to at least let people know that they can be both the head coach and GM or Moncton is likely losing out on a bunch of applicants who would only want it if they had both roles.

Bellamy was a 1st round pick and he barely played behind guys like LeCoultre Auger Weiringa Arsenault and Tucker. There is a lot of blame to go on Shannon but that one is on Rumble and Hepditch. Bellamy's attitude didn't help his case either. 1. If he had an attitude problem, why did they draft him? You would think that they would have made sure he was going to be a team player especially a first round pick. 2. If it was just one incident between a 16 year old and an adult coach and the kid is taught a lesson for an extended number of games, I would say that the coach is acting like a kid. 3. In the end, now that Shannon is gone we may get one or two good players out of the trade to Sherbrooke. Only time will tell.

I'm surprised but I'm not...I'm surprised that they did after the 1st round upset, but in general the team has been spinning it's wheels for years, I think having Garland extended Shannon's term by a couple years. I think all the bad trades and bad picks did him in. I don't think the franchise is in horrible shape, but I'd like to see somebody brought in with the goal of winning championships and letting them do their job. Well that was quick, dressing room probably not cleaned up yet and the GM has been shown the door. Bet Rumble on on very thin ice as well, this years team graduated to 14th spot this past season from the cellar disaster previous season, certainly not a stellar record by either of them.

Ahhhh ... now I can buy my season tickets for next year. I promised Mr. Irving that I would, if he fired Shannon. I'm sure that's the main reason listed on his pink slip.

you also need to replace Gerry Green with Tim Roszell Pretty sure Gerry Green is with Rogers, not the Cats. The Cats play-by-play guy is Marty Kingston who is very good.

Team players are a higher priority when trading for a purpose, like making a run. If somebody said Crosby had an attitude problem... 2. Rookies shouldn't dictate their playing minutes, that's the coaches job... 3. We don't know enough about the Bellamy situation to place the blame on anybody. One incident or numerous incidents?

His attitude? I have spoken to the kid and seen numerous interviews and interactions, the guy has a bubbly personality and positive outlook. There was an incident at a practice between him and Rumble that led to Bellamy losing his ice time. When dealing with kids(I coached teenagers for 7 years), you can't hold a grudge against a kid for a mistake or incident. That sounds like a coach shooting himself in the foot.

I could see it last year when they had a bare cupboard...this year they had an older squad that should improve as the season goes on...especially after Phelan Miromanov and Sylvestre were added.

should be interesting to see the draft and trades to start the year with someone new making some of the calls. team needed it. Next year 2 teams from the Q will make the memorial cup, so our odds are better and with the right changes, we could compete.

Yeah, the top candidates would likely be guys who want both jobs. Eric Veilleux and Pascal Vincent both left AHL coaching jobs...wonder if they could be options?

In order to compete with Halifax they would likely need to add 3-4 big pieces, this would be very expensive and leave the cupboards bare, I think 19-20 would be a better target. SJ will still be young and Bathurst and Halifax will be rebuilding.
