I wonder if Darrell Young is in the picture? He played a large part in last year's Sea Dogs team as well as building the Cats Crawford-Bernier group 15 years back...

you also need to replace Gerry Green with Tim Roszell Or you could replace Aaron Kennedy with Tim Roszell.

When dealing with kids(I coached teenagers for 7 years), you can't hold a grudge against a kid for a mistake or incident. That sounds like a coach shooting himself in the foot. They also didn't have to trade him. Once a kid asks to be traded ... it is never a good idea to keep him around. He is no longer pulling in the same direction as everybody else. Either you give him the ice time that he wants or you ship him out. But giving in to demands means the Coach and GM lose face in front of the other players. Its a no win situation ... and so to avoid it you have to keep everybody happy.

Its a no win situation ... and so to avoid it you have to keep everybody happy. Usually kids ask to be traded after a lot of water has gone under the bridge. From what I heard this was about one incident. A good GM would have gotten both parties together and straightened things out. Unfortunately with kids nowadays they have all these people(parents, agents and former coaches etc) telling them how good they are and how great they should be at the next level and it goes to their heads. They struggle with challenges as a result and don't always react the right way. If a kid is truly unhappy then a trade is the right move, but 9 times out of ten, a good coach/GM will rectify the situation with communication. In this situation it looks like Rumble let his pride or ego get the best of him and the situation deteriorated. The situation is made a lot worse by the fact that the Cats long term outlook on D is a train wreck and they desperately need like 4 Bellamy's...they currently have nobody under 19(next year) that looks like a current/future lock as a top 4. Tucker is as close as they have and he is no lock.

The defense they have on paper next year is nothing to write home about. Now, I think they will draft a couple young D and maybe a couple FA's but is Webster better than those guys? I haven't seen him to be able to say.

When you look at the big picture" it is difficult to lay all the blame on Shannon" For the current state of the team' He made some sound draft picks Then the Players and agents decide to play the NCAA game to keep their eligibility open...You would wonder why the screening process is not more stringent on what the aspirations of a player is before being entered into the Q draft pool...
