The return of Beausoleil & the Oceanic comes today as the Cats are playing their best hockey of the season. Undefeated in regulation in their last 7 games.
Last night was a total domination of Shawinigan but it will be a much different test today. Interested to see if they still have Seitz shadowing Lafreniere. Lots of players on both sides still around from last years playoffs. Hopefully some of that intensity will carry over.
Last night saw De Jong scratched & the third pairing got plenty of ice last night to rest the top guys for this game.

This team looks like they are really starting to gel , looked good against the Mooseheads except for a bad start to the second period. Today will be a big test, really liked the fact that rumble rolled 4 lines regularly and the defence pairings as well. Desyoners looks great out there, great skater and looks confident with or wotout the puck. Moncton should be able to go deep into the playoffs barring any major injuries or team chemistry problems. If they continue their great play , they should consider trading MacDonald and picking up a skilled faceoff player.

Noticed MacDonald did not have a brace on anymore last night, at the start of the season Rumble says he was 6 weeks out, if he hasnt any any setbacks he should be back in November. If they do a trade involving MacDonald I would want them to get a defenseman back as thats where they need the most help now and in the prospect pipeline.

Should be another 2-3 weeks.

So I went to a Langille-Starzomski cock measuring contest and a hockey game broke out... And between that our defeceman are playing “ who can look the most lost on Rimouski goals”. So far Bobby Orr Lecoultre is far and away in the lead.

What a huge win. Really gutsy effort by the Cats. They could have easily rolled over and let the game get out of hand with the way it was being called through 2 periods, and being down 2 but they dug in their heels and came out flying in the 3rd. It was like a great road win but at home. Yes the Defense were running around a lot but I think that’s just a product of how Rimouski strikes. They are super opportunistic and feast on matchups and special teams. If you can balance those matchups and eliminate Lafrenieres options of space and time they are not nearly as dangerous IMO.
Leclerc was outstanding again. Couldn’t believe he didn’t get a star or hardest worker.
Puck was bouncing like crazy. I think at least half the goals were tipped in somehow and many more bounces that just missed at both ends. They also need to do something though about these 3 minute reviews after EVERY goal. Man those really kill momentum shifts.

Man those really kill momentum shifts. The Khovanov goal off the face off had to be the most ridiculous delayed review of the year. A goal scored off a faceoff that went off a Rimouski player with no other cat near the puck. There was literally nothing that could have called that goal back. This has been a very entertaining stretch of hockey by the Cats. After a sluggish start the fans at the Avenir Centre are getting their moneys worth. Hard to believe that a potential 30+ goal scorer should be added to this group of forwards in a few weeks.

Guys like Khovanov and Sylvestre are good for at least one PP against per game on useless penalties.

Great move by Rumble to put the Pelletier-Cyr-McKenna line back together for the third period. They score on the first shift and it all came together from there. I know his hand was forced a bit by Capannelli’s absence but have to give credit where it’s due. Hopefully nothing serious caused him to leave the game as he’s had a great start to the season.
For those who didn’t catch it on the post-game it was mentioned that DeJong missed this weekend’s games due to sickness.
