I was talking to somebody who has ties to the team. He said that he’d be surprised to see Dixon last month . The rookies are the ones running the team. The kids are the ones who are on the vets for missing passes not being in the right spot etc. I guess the kids are saying they want vets who can play . Cowan is the one expected to take over as HC, I’m fine with letting Dixon go I just don’t want them hiring a new guy and having to pay for two guys

Unfortunately for the kids the veterans they want were traded as draft picks to win a championship.
They likely have no choice but to suck it up for another few months, maybe even another season, until they are the veterans.

The positive here is that the kids seem to be dialed in and care about the team. They're speaking their mind and showing leadership at 16. They're in a great situation. This team will be dynamite in the near future as the grow together. They're lucky to have this chance that few teams ever get to.

Cowan hasn't shown me anything to promote him to head coach.
Jim Midgeley is looking for work

I guess the question to ask is: Is there a problem? Saint John had all the picks they had because they traded away most of their better veterans. So if there were more veteran players on the team, there would be less younger talent.
If Saint John was concerned about their veteran leadership, they could trade for a character 19yo this year that will be around as a 20yo next year. It doesn't necessarily have to be a guy to put up a bunch of points... just a guy with experience that can shoulder some of the work load and help the younger players.
I don't know if I'd necessarily blame coaching. But if there are multiple reports that the inmates are running the asylum, a coach with more experience and grit might be the answer. But I think that's a bit premature.
Luckily Saint John is a strong enough market to go through with this rebuild. This will all be forgotten in 2-3 years when the Dogs are dominant.

This is probably the first time a lot of these kids have faced adversity. Like you said the team should be great in a couple years, however losing bad every night can be poison for a dressing room. I think the team needs to go out and add a couple cheap 20 YO's that can be 60 point guys. I think that would go a long way in making this team middle of the pack next year and start to create a winning atmosphere.

I don't understand why they never hired a legit defence coach to replace Lebouthillier when he left the team.
That being said, the two 20 year old d-men have been underwhelming at best. The 16 year olds look great but are still young and make up half the defence on most nights.

Serious question here, is anyone else concerned about Da Silva? I thought coming out of midget that he would be a very good QMJHL goalie.. since his draft though, he’s really really struggled. He wasn’t good in his final year of midget, he wasn’t very good in his Q games last year and he’s been downright awful in his Q games this year. The worst part is he hasn’t even been good in his pre-season Q games to make you think there’s more there. I’m not ready to pull the plug on a 17 year old goalie but man he’s gotta get it going here at some point and prove something, or else the Dogs may need to get a new goalie of the future.

I am concerned as well but it's not like DaSilva is the only goalie getting lit up. It seems like every game we are giving up 6 or more goals. For his confidence I think they need to send him to Jr A and bring in an older more experienced goalie to back up D'Orio or be the number one if D'Orio is traded.

Saint John has acquired goaltender Mikhail Denisov from Blainville. Possibly reliving da Silva, or possibly gearing up for a d'Orio trade?

It's a good buy either way, 10th rounder for a guy who was the odd goalie out on his team, plenty of q experience. Can help out right away, and be your #1 after Christmas.
