If we could move 1 in a deal for 2 and 6 then took Whynot 6th, I'd be all for it. There is no universe in which I would be okay with trading down from 1 to lose out on Roy/Robidas Saint John would probably have to give up a future first to make the trade palatable for Val d’Or. Is this a Luke Green situation again? Yeah I can't see VD making that deal without another prime asset being part of the deal. They might not even prefer one of Robidas or Roy all that much over the other seeing as how they're each ranked #1 depending on who you ask.

Maybe we could keep our 1st overall and move one of our other first round pics, I believe we have a few in the next draft don’t we? It's almost like I hadn't posted our first round picks in 2020 and 2021 an hour, and two posts, before that. *cough*

I really hope they go for a forward with their first pick. If they can swing it to take Whynot with a second 1st pick that's fine, but we need some goal scorers.

And we already have a young enough defense. There's only so much ice-time to go around to develop the young guys, especially if we acquire 1 or 2 veteran defensemen for this season.

Good interview with Georgie and Stella in today's TJ about the upcoming draft. It also talks about acquiring Guay from Drummondville and that they will also announce a player joining the team from Baie Comeau next week. They talk about trading down if the offer is right and that every team wants that first overall pick.. They talk about holding 3 first rounders in 2020 and two in 2021 and Georgie says they have some options open to them at the Negotiations table when he heads to Quebec next week. If the Dogs were to trade down a few picks. What do you suppose the return would be? If Valdor would not do pick 2 and 6 for pick 1. Would we make a deal with Gatineau to get pick 4, pick 13 + + +?
Halifax paid this to advance from 7 to 2 in 2016 to get their hands on McIsaac.
RD_1, # 16, 2016 RD_1, # 7, 2016 RD_2, # 24, 2016 RD_1, 2017 (Rou)

Is Roy or Robidas at 16 more valuable then McIsaac at 16? I can’t say yes for certain but I think they’re slightly more valuable at worst.

Halifax paid a Simon Desmarais and 2 3rd round picks to move from 4 to 2 back in 2011. (Keep in mind Desmarais was considered a good prospect at the time.)
Moving up 2 spots I don't think would be crazy expensive, but, I do think the Dogs could get a late 1st round pick or 2nd round pick to move down.

A week out from the draft.
We need to walk out of the draft with a top forward (Roy or Robidas) and would like at least 1 D and 1 more FW that will make the roster at 16.
Given that we haven't announced the BC player, i think we're going to move the player. I hope that either we announce 2 trades at once (in and out) or wait until the 12th to make it official as a sign of respect to the player.
I hope we trade a couple of the depth guys to teams where they will get a better crack.
We NEED a vet D.

I hope that if they do in fact trade down to grab Whynot that they have an ace up there sleeve ( Reynolds) for later on in the draft. Could the player from the Drakkar be Yan Aucoin? He would be a much needed presence on the back end.... There is for sure going to be a big log jam up front with the additions of Stairs and Drover playing full time as well as the 2019 draft class/ Euro selection. We will have to see some movement for certain.

Aucoin is headed to Bathurst but I'd be ecstatic if we could swing a deal for him

Baie Comeau is trading a player to SJ to complete the D'Orio deal
