IMO, we need to net add a forward, whether it be a call up or a trade. We have 13 right now on the game sheet (including Badalamenti who is out long term).
On D, I would like to see us use 7D in the second half instead of scratching the same guys every night.

Belisle to VIC for 6th and 10th a 4th to Drummondville for NOTHING. Isaiah Campbell to Cape Breton for even less. Da Silva played great in his only start and has been doing well with his regular team. I guess it was probably done to give him a chance to play in the Q, but I would not have moved him for so little. I thought he and Patenaude would be the tandem next year.

Savoie is younger though and I think they were higher on his potential than da Silva. I'm not even talking about the Campbell for da Silva trade and how badly we lost that one in the end. I'm talking about how we actually traded a 4th round pick to Drummondville for "no compensation". Makes TG look bad today. Our moves today now are that we sent off: 2 players and a 4th round pick for 2 10ths and a 6th. I know that its not a big deal, and not how one should look at the trades...but that is what happened today. Bad optics, especially for any fans that were hoping we'd add a piece or two for the future.

every year we see one of these trades where someone sends a draft pick to a team for no compensation.... really makes the league look bad when they say the reason all the future deals are structured the way they are is to allow every move to be able to stand on its own...... could it be a last part to the Nicholas Guay deal?

Now this:
@scottmacintosh4: Important to point out that the 2021 1st round pick dealt to Saint John for Safin is top 8 protected. That means if #Mooseheads are bottom 8 in the league next season they will keep the pick and Saint John will get their 2022 1st rounder.

Regardless of how much better one year might be versus the other regarding that pick, that likely makes that pick a lot harder to include in a trade. I'm assuming at that point we'd rather not make a draft selection with that pick and instead move the pick to acquire a player in a "go for it" year.

I interpreted your comment to mean we traded a 4th to Drummondville for Belisle and are now getting "nothing" in return (which would have been undervaluing the 6th and 10th). But now I get you were talking about another transaction where we literally got nothing for the 4th. Curious what that is about. Must have been some sort of condition from a past deal. As for Savoie vs. Da Silva, the fact that Savoie is younger is all the more reason to me to keep Da Silva unless we got an offer that is worth our while in my opinion. Da Silva/Patenaude next year with Savoie maybe getting the occasional call up, and then Patenaude/Savoie the following year, with a possibility of bringing Da Silva back as a 20 if he's performing the best (we currently have nobody likely to be a 20 that season). Either way it doesn't hurt to have both of them compete for a spot and be available in case of injury. I don't consider a 10th to be worth our while but obviously Georgie did. It might have simply been done as a favour to Da Silva to give him a chance to play and maintain some goodwill. If that's the case, then so be it.

Bouthillier is our goalie of the present. Patenaude is the goalie of the future. da Silva has sat around waiting in the wings, probably hoping to be a starter, and obviously that simply is not going to have much chance of happening here in SJ. Thus they sent him somewhere to get the chance to hopefully be more to someone else than our "Plan C"
