There may be more to the Da Silva trade You're likely right, Briwhel. Pure speculation on my part, but it's quite likely that there may be a subsequent deal at the draft, based on performance in the remainder of this season. With Creed Jones traded to Rimouski, Tommy may now be the backup in Gatineau.

He's shown signs of being really good but is unproven.

I was hoping that we could have added one or two pieces to improve the team for down the stretch without giving up to much of course.
Oh well this is what we have going forward unless we can get a good player off waivers.

Initially, I was a tad disappointed that Trevor and Anthony didn't add to the current roster. But if the asking prices were deemed to be too high, pretty much standing pat may be best. It will be interesting to see if the Sea Dogs dip into the free agent pool before the roster freeze. #TrustTheProcess 😊

Also, we need to add a fw, so either we waiver claim someone, call up a 16 (would require them forgoing ncaa), or call up a 17 like Bezeau or O'Neill.

I would think that the teams in 11th to 17th place are ahead of you in line for him. But I guess it depends on who of those teams have already made waiver claims this year. I'm not sure he'd be a good acquisition for you guys. He has been a problem at all of his stops in the Q. You guys are much improved with your Coaching change and on an upward trajectory ... without MacDonald. I realize he is a local kid, and living at home while playing in the Q might be what he needs.

My thoughts exactly. MacDonald would be an unnecessary risk given the forwards they already have. The thought of him living at home might make all the difference though and is intriguing. The risk/reward is big on both sides. He was on pace for 30 goals this year on a weak Bathurst team. Put him on a SJ line with guys that can feed him the puck and you are looking at 40+ goal potential as an 20 YO.

There's more to it then throwing the guy on the ice and letting him score. He appears to have some issues he needs to get through. Sounds like hockey should be secondary to his own mental health right now. Bathurst releasing you really isn't a good look.

That and I doubt Bathurst just releases their best remaining player for nothing. I dont buy the theory they released him to get the draft pick compensation. They get a 2nd and a 6th, but give up a 3rd. The difference between a Moncton 2nd and a Bathurst 3rd is likely....not much. So basically they would be releasing their best player for a 6th round pick. I'm not buying that one. Thus I tend to believe there actually was an off ice incident that caused Bathurst to release him, and if so, no way would I want to risk him on the team. Hopefully he can step away from hockey, at least at this highly competitive level, and get any help and support he needs in order to live a long happy life. Take advantage of all that tuition money he built up playing in the Q these years. Whatever.

Guess we didn't have the first pick or we passed on him.

Alexis Bélisle had decided to leave the QMJHL before the Christmas break and he had told Saint John about that but they traded him anyway. Now Victoriaville wants its picks back.

If true, pretty greasy on our part. We seem to get investigated a lot compared to other teams in our transactions. I'm thinking this one, Tesink, Safin. I know there's quite a few years between those few examples but those are just what I easily remember, and I dont really remember too many other teams being investigated once in that time frame, let alone 3+ times.
