Lacroix and Hepditch will be back. Darryl Boyce, Ryan Salvis and Marc Terriault are gone. Antoine Samuel is the new video/goalie coach. Word around Cape Breton is former eagle captain Nick MacNeil is expected to be named an assistant with the Wildcats.

If any Ontario free agents are expected at camp, they should be added this week.
I believe there's a rule that states players from outside QMJHL jurisdiction can only be added after August 1st.

Where there was zero hockey in Ontario last year other then pro I don’t think you’ll see much free agents come from there. I have a feeling any and ever available player will be given chances with OHL teams. How many players did they lose last year? How many players went to other leagues and aren’t coming back? I know some will but some might like where they were. Personally I’m not sure we’re going to see much of the Ontario free agent pool at least this year.

Those that went outside will be back, they can only invite a fixed amount of players, so the FA level should be the same, though not having played a year makes it more risky. Could get a really good or really bad player.

I agree with you on the risk/reward comment ... this is a year where we are going to see some real surprises, both on the FA market and through the draft ... some players will no doubt be much better than anticipated, others far worse. Good scouting to early identify guys who have blossomed will be key - could see more in-season FAs than normal as teams look to pluck the most improved players from Jr A rosters once the season gets running.

Has the Hlinka tournament started? Started on Monday. Must have missed it since Canada isn’t playing in it this year. Speaking of Switzerland - Miles Muller has 1 point so far in the tournament. Was anyone else kind of surprised that he was chosen for the team? Not that I know much about Switzerland’s prospects, but he was only a 10th round pick by the wildcats in the last draft. Hopefully that it means that he has improved and that he makes the team this year though!

I'm not surprised, I thought he played really well for us especially in the playoffs when you consider he only turned 16 in December and was still adapting to the North American game. What surprised me the most was that some people still have him as a longshot to make the team this coming year. I wouldn't be shocked to see him in the top 6 by the 2nd half depending on how the trade period goes.

They have 12 goalies listed, I assume Usnik is not coming, can't see them bringing in more than 7 or 8, some must not be reporting. Katz? McDonald?

If they are having a big rookie camp first, they have a number of young 2004 and 2005 born goalies that I can see them inviting just for that and then quickly sending down for seasoning, before the older guys arrive for main camp. Do something like invite 6 to rookie camp (Flemming, MacDonald, Thompson, Warren, Rowe/DiMattia/Forbes, 4 straight to main camp (Filion, Sheehan, Couture, Rowe/DiMattia/Forbes) ...
