What are Ben Roode's chances of sticking? With the number of returning D, and the addition of Despont - probably not very high. |

I think he's a fringe Major Junior d'man, especially on a team that might be ready to contend. I agree with the previous response. If he does make the team, he certainly won't be a regular. However they may prefer to keep him as a regular healthy scratch and have their younger guys get lots of ice time at the lower levels. |

For those interested, this morning's training camp session had to be moved to the Qplx for 11:30A due to an ammonia leak at the Peter Murray.

Anyone been able to make it to any of the scrimmages that can give us an update on how some of the players look?
It's good that Despont hits everything. How has he looked other then that? I know it might be a little early to tell if he can be a top 4 Q player.

I know it might be a little early to tell if he can be a top 4 Q player. No offense, but day 1 and 2 scrimmages are a terrible way to tell who is good. The older players are mostly coasting (except for Despont and Savoie). The younger guys are working their butts off, but the first scrimmage had very little structure to it due to guys just being thrown on the ice together. The exhibition game will be a lot better to see what kids stand out against other kids (I hope we don't play any of Reynolds, Savoie, MacDonald, Despont, and Casey, who are all here already) |

Casey is definitely not a for sure….he is 19 and not one of our top defencemen…besides Casey, in no particular order…
Villeneuve(19)
Poirier (19)
DesRoches(19)
Desponts(18)
Innis(20)
Drapeau(17)
Gartley(17)
Grenier(16)
Would the Dogs keep Casey over the younger talent?

Casey is definitely not a for sure….he is 19 and not one of our top defencemen…besides Casey, in no particular order… Villeneuve(19) Poirier (19) DesRoches(19) Desponts(18) Innis(20) Drapeau(17) Gartley(17) Grenier(16) Would the Dogs keep Casey over the younger talent? I hope Grenier is sent to Midget AAA. He’s coming out of Bantam AAA two seasons ago and it could severely hurt his development playing a game here and there rather than playing full time in MAAA |

I'd rather have an older guy sit in the stands if he's willing. Maybe if we had some solid defense coaching one could make an argument that the younger guys would develop more by practicing with the team regularly and getting a few more games in. I think there will be opportunities to call some guys up during the season so the young guys can get a taste of that while still getting lots of ice time at a lower level. |
