Casey is definitely not a for sure….he is 19 and not one of our top defencemen…besides Casey, in no particular order… Villeneuve(19) Poirier (19) DesRoches(19) Desponts(18) Innis(20) Drapeau(17) Gartley(17) Grenier(16) Would the Dogs keep Casey over the younger talent? I hope Grenier is sent to Midget AAA. He’s coming out of Bantam AAA two seasons ago and it could severely hurt his development playing a game here and there rather than playing full time in MAAA I agree. We have often been guilty of keeping young promising players around and not giving them any meaningful ice time to develop, when instead they should have been sent down a level where they could get tons of ice time in all kinds of meaningful games and situations.

In some cases it's due to being guaranteed a roster spot to sign with team X(SJ or other) after the draft.

Have all practices and scrimmages been officially moved to the Qplex or are they going back to Peter Murray? I Can't make it to any until the weekend.

2nd straight game that Reynolds, MacDonald, Drapeau and a few other returning regulars play while I'm pretty sure Moncton is playing all rookies. I'm a bit surprised Dwyer has decided to do this and also surprised that the Wildcats aren't countering by playing a few returnees as well. Could be that Moncton has more spots available and more rookies they want to assess, while everyone is new to Dwyer and wants to get a look at guys who are already guaranteed to make the team.
Vince Elie gets a hat trick as the Dogs lead 7-2 after 2.

D'Orazio didn't play today (and didn't play exhibition), so if is probably safe to assume that he left to preserve NCAA.
Graves, Burt and White all seem to be gone as well.
Also, Cowan hasn't been here at all
Up front, McCluskey has been working hard and is highly likely to make the team imo. Elie has also impressed. There are a few guys battling for the last 1-3 spots with Watt having an inside track on a spot due to age.
On D, our top 6 is likely set with Gartley, Roode, Casey and Grenier trying to force their way into the conversation for s roster spot.
In net, I think this has always been a 2 man show, but the kids have been good.

The way I see it, we had 9 locks coming camp. Of those, it looks like:
MacDonald - Reynolds - Francis
And
Burns - Lawrence - Dufour
Could be lines to start the year. Sapelnikov isn't here and Savoie and Bezeau have been on different lines all camp.
Of the rest, Mccluskey came to camp to make the team. He's been one of the most impressive guys there.
Élie is making quite a good case for a roster spot. Watt has the inside track on a roster spot, so the last spot or two could come down to LaForge, Simard and Woods (but we can't really give proper ice time to 3 16s, which could help Laforge).
On D, there's a clear top 6 and the others. Grenier has looked very good, but he still needs to be midget bound so that he can play big minutes. Roode, Gartley and Casey are battling for 7th D.
In net, it is a 2 man show w two vets, but Shingarov and Brideau have shown very well.
It seems that the 16s show up big every year and this is no exception. They can all hold their heads high, because they've looked very good.

I made it to the scrimmage yesterday and was very impressed with Elie, Woods and Grenier, for 16's they stood out.
I realize that it was only scrimmage but if this wasn't a go for it year all 3 could play in this league.
I am sure at least one or two of them will probably be used in a trade if they plan loading up this year.

We will likely need 1-2 too 9 fw this year and will have to acquire a goalie next (and possibly more)
