Last year, the Q played with no fans and in bubbles in Quebec, while crowds were limited in the Maritimes. I suppose the OHL could have done that if they'd wanted to. Either way, I don't see the season being cancelled; more than likely it will be shortened, and playoffs may be a best of five the first couple of rounds.

this year most people are vaccinated, big difference then last year, and the Q played. They will play, as restrictions aren't going to last long, QC is easing them, Ontario is easing them today and NB and PEI will have to as well. Most people are vaccinated and omicron isn't the same covid as before. Hospitals are always overrun, and have been for 25 years, this year is no different.
When I got my booster (the doctor), yes a doctor who gave it to me said covid wasn't the issue, the isolation rules were the big issue and hospitals are every winter on their knees with being over run.
February the Q will start with 50%....just like the WHL is now, and full rinks by Memorial cup...I'd bet on it

If the government isn’t going to hand out money (which I don’t think they will or should) and don’t want to seriously lift restrictions, then who knows how long or if they’ll start up again. I think they probably will but who knows when.

Thats still a lot of time to get a lot done...not 68 games, 4 best of 7's and a Mem Cup...but certainly a workable situation.

I see that Moncton is leaving today to train in Quebec as NB will not allow them to practice. I would assume that Bathurst and Saint John will be as well.
Interesting, wonder if the Islanders would do the same? Though for all I know the Islanders could be allowed to practice here and are doing so.

Some people owe Halifax and Bobby Smith an apology I think lol Holding a game when its legally allowed to happen caused a ton of negative comments about circumventing covid rules. I look forward to how people spin this one as teams leave the region due to covid protocols lol

700,00 people left the country to travel in December, I don't think people care if some kids go practice in another province. Makes 0 sense to have to leave the province to train....when the Q has solid covid practices in place and empty rinks in NB. You cant train with 20 young health men, but can go to Costco with 500 people anytime.... the island needs to drop the 4 day isolation period as well, Covid is there just as much as it is in NS and NB, so you cant keep it off the island so stop trying.
I heard some Islanders have left PEI to practice back in NS and I don't blame them.

If the Islanders are not practicing it sure puts them at a disadvantage for whenever (if ever???) they start again. They would be the only team to have not had at least a week of practice

I heard some Islanders have left PEI to practice back in NS and I don't blame them. People cared about moving a Friday game to Thursday...people have lost their fucking minds with this thing. I hear you but there is a point to be made that goes against your idea. When they decided to change the zone category on that Friday, they made the decision on the previous Monday (or was it Tuesday). If they didn't need any time at all they could have made the change immediately, but they did need the time for businesses to adjust to the new requirements. I don't think "businesses adjusting" meant "try to get as many games in as you can before we tighten things up". But they had a regularly scheduled game on the Wednesday that went ahead, and then a rescheduled game went ahead on Thursday. They are the same circumstances but one was allowed because it was within the grace period, but the second one was "not allowed" because it was rescheduled out of the lockdown period. It wasn't actually "not allowed" but it was frowned upon by the Premier, but he let it slide. But if they need any future considerations from the Premier, they probably already burned them. Playing the game on the Thursday or on the Saturday was the same risk, except Saturday would have had much tighter rules. Bottom line is that the Mooseheads played a game to get their game in and make more money. You probably could find several businesses that did the same thing, but just not at the same level of visibility. But I am on the side of the Mooseheads in this move. It doesn't bother me that they got an extra game in, but I am pretty sure that it bothered the Premier. If you don't need the Premier anymore through this and through his term then no big deal. But if you do need him to get concessions in the future then that might not go as well as you'd hope. Houston doesn't seem like a dick in front of the cameras, but who knows what he is like behind closed doors.
