Next years lineup looks crowded up front... Barbashev(19) /Labelle(20)/Beaudoin(20) Loshing(18)/Taibel(18)/Mercier(17) Daniel(19)/Mueller(18)/Auger(18) Cloutier(19)/Pavan(19)/Casey(18) 12 returning guys and you still have Smith(16), Lounsbury(17), Sarrasin(17), McPhee(17) and some other for sure surprises at camp next month that will lobby consideration. Time to move on from Cloutier and Pavan. Possibly even Casey.

I agree. I don’t think you can justify having 2 19 year olds playing fourth line on a mid-pack team. I assume that Daniel is likely the one that they would keep out of those 3 - partially because he’s a local kid. I assume Lounsbury definitely has a spot, and maybe Gabe Smith if he wants it although going back and dominating might be a better decision. While I think it is unlikely he stays, Gavin Cornforth likely has a spot too if he wants it. Training camp will definitely be interesting. I think the defence will likely be a competition for the last 2 spots with Darcy, Dollemont and the free agents fighting for them. Backup goalie is anyone’s guess Watching Smith at U17 camp... I would be shocked if he goes back to U18. Skating needs work but better off to get adjusted to the speed and work with someone in Moncton. His line was very noticeable in yesterdays game. It's not a sure thing he plays for the WC, Ritchie mentioned trying to get him to report, so he could go NCAA...

Fortier-Gendron suffered a lower body injury at U17 camp last night. Couldn't put any weight on his right leg.
With one month until training camp, let's hope it's not serious.

He's the kinda guy you want on the ice for a penalty kill or when protecting a one-goal lead late in a game.

I don't think it's crazy to suggest Daniel could score 20 this season depending on his ice time. He has good finish. I see him as a possible 20 in 22-23.

He is a guy that is going to fall victim to the short life cycle of a junior career ... he can't stay healthy, and he has seemingly overnight gone from a promising 16 year old to an 18 year old who has yet to prove anything ...

Casey is in the same situation as Brett Crossley was a few years back for the Mooseheads. Really good prospect that wasn’t physically ready for junior but played anyhow. I think both these kids would have been better playing there 16 yo season at U18….sometimes moving up helps and sometimes it becomes a disaster.

Does anyone know whether Cornforth being named to the US’s 5 nations team affects his plans to come to training camp?
It seems like the tournament should be over by August 13th, so he should still be able to make it. Although with NCAA leaning type guys you never know if having these back to back could make him change his mind on training camp.
