I get the Gallant love. His intangibles are obvious. However, he did score 8 goals. Is he considered a lock as a 20 because the other guys have way more value on the trade market and those assets can accelerate the rebuild? I think that would be the reasoning. Gallant is a guy I see as a perfect 20, maybe even wear a letter for a 1st year rebuild team. He's a hard-worker, and a role model to the guys coming up in the draft. Gallant was never a highly touted prospect, he was rarely to never the topic of conversation at the scouts table, he's not a big guy... but he worked his butt off and carved out a nice little Q career for himself on a very good team. Charlottetown doesn't have picks until like round 7 this year, and while I'm sure that'll change on draft day, they're going to need to find guys in the late rounds of the draft. And Gallant is a good role model for them. That's how I would look at it anyway.

Add in the fact that he’s an Island product, I think it’s a pretty easy decision. He may not put up the points, but he’s a Jim Hulton type of player and what being a Charlottetown Islander is all about

So does anyone know the return of Biakabatuka called or Elliot yet?

Stairs Roy Gallant Saye Trudeau (if he's back) Maynard Lapenna Depending on the market for goalies, Lapenna probably starts the year in Charlottetown. That leaves 2 OA spots; Trudeau certainly gets one of those if he is back, Maynard if he's not. After that, I'd keep either Roy or Stairs over Gallant, unless you get a good return for them.
Gallant will be a 20 in this league; I just don't think it will be for us.

Guys like Roy and Lapenna should get you multiple picks at the draft. I would go with Stairs Gallant and Trudeau. Let Satny start and maybe build his value. maynard might get you a mid round pick from a team with a need for an OA. There should also be picks coming back for Biakabutuka and Guay so that will help in july.

I think that they should sell on Brabenec.
He put up solid numbers in his 1st campaign in North America.
Regular season: 64pts 58gp
Playoffs: 19pts 15gp
I would deal Lepenna, go with Satny in goal, I feel he has proven he can play at this level, and then draft another young Euro this Summer.

I think we keep Gallant. He's not our best player skill wise, but he's by far our best in terms of consistent effort. Going into a rebuild, him providing that leadership and lesson to the young guys will be more valuable going forward than any 7th round pick we may get for him.

it would make no sense at all for a rebuilding club to go with a 20 and a 19 year old in net... Lapenna should absolutely be dealt and Satny given the goal
Gallant is worth way more to us than he is to another team..... that is why he is the only "lock" IMO
you move whichever one of Stairs or Roy can return the best value and go with the other
and then you hope Trudeau is back and if so he's a lock as well.. if not you have Maynard there as a fallback option hopefully
you do also have to factor in the team will want to be competitive to start out..... nothing worse than building a bunch of momentum and then totally bottoming out the next year to start..... you can sell the narrative much better at xmas to the casual market than to totally trade off all the players from this years run
those are my thoughts anyway

They paid a lot to get him, they're not going to let him go for nothing. That's why I said if there is no market for goalies at the draft, Lapenna probably starts the year here.

And the only reason that this is really even a possible issue is because guys like Adam, Hurtubise, and Couture should all be available as well. That being said, there are a few teams who should not be comfortable looking at their goaltending (especially Gatineau, who are arguably the team to beat in their division, but who have a backup goalie and no starter). Halifax and Quebec might be nervous about having 18 year-olds running the net in big years (Quebec has no backup of note). BLB also needs to be looking into the goalie market. I keep seeing that Charlottetown should trade Boyd, but I don't see what his market really is. He plays a similar game to Olivier Picard so unless he is blocking someone, he might be the kind of guy that you keep (especially if Charlottetown gets a decent pick and drafts a forward, because he could be the corner guy and protector for that kid).

Everything here is 100% on the spot. The real decision is on Roy/Stairs, and I think you look closely at what kind of a value you get coming back from each. Stairs kind of is what he is.... Roy has the possibility to build on what he showed us last season and increase his value as the season progresses....so you don't want to sell low on him. Roy could be a 75+ point player this coming season. Dangle both and see what the returns look like. Maynard as a standalone does not hold a lot of value, but he is a perfect fallback option should Trudeau turn pro. Then you don't have to go shopping last minute for a 20 y/o.... bird in the hand. it would make no sense at all for a rebuilding club to go with a 20 and a 19 year old in net... Guys like Norlinder Barron Harris Fairbrother Schuenman and Guhle will also be in the NHL/AHL picture. Ouellet and Brook's status is up in the air.

The Habs have so many prospects as a result of all the draft picks they have stockpiled over the last few years as well. It is to their advantage to delay signing Trudeau one more year and get him on his entry level pro contract for 23-24. I posted a while back too.... with Trudeau, he's a late birthday, so he's subject to that rule where he could play in the AHL in 22-23 and have his entry level contract slide IF he had of been signed to the deal before the end of 2021. But, the Habs have not yet signed him, so if he is in AHL/ECHL, the clock is ticking on his entry level deal. If he remains unsigned through the season, they have him on his entry level deal starting out in 23-24. I would have said it "less likely" that Trudeau was going to play in the Q at 20 when he was drafted last summer... but all of the factors involved today make it a more likely prospect he is in major junior next season... which would be a big boost for us whether he's in the lineup in Septebmer or if he is used as a trading option this summer. Everything here is 100% on the spot. The real decision is on Roy/Stairs, and I think you look closely at what kind of a value you get coming back from each. Stairs kind of is what he is.... Import draft is Friday I wonder if we pass on our picks or if we make a selection and try and trade Brabanec?
