tj.news/greater-saint-john/101924992An update (kind of) on the search for a new head coach in this article.. “Our preference, based on the experience that we had with this group down the stretch and everything we have been through as a group is to look internally to a candidate who has been involved with the team,” said Georgie. “That is our preference right now.”

Great. So Trevor Georgie is going to take a shot at being President, General Manager, and Head Coach. 🤣🤣🤣

Couple names added to the Sea Dogs pre-season roster on the Q website:
RW Cael MacDonald - 19pts in 20 games with Campbellton last year, former Bathurst draft pick
Goalie Patrick Charette - Played with Kuper Academy in Quebec last year, 4-2-0 and 2.86 GAA in 7 games.

Looks like there's a couple more:
Tracey is a former Bathurst pick as well, solid potential there.

With the first preseason game three weeks from tomorrow, here's a rough outline of what we have right now (Note: all of the vets could potentially be traded)
Returning players up front - Trenholm (19), Reynolds (19), MacDonald (19), at least one of Burns/Lessard (20) and Laforge (18). Jack Campbell (19) was acquired.
The depth is: Bucaro (19) MacDonald (18) Dumais (18) Akkouche (18) Burbidge (17) Elie (17) Simard (17) Bellemare (16) Simek (17) Mateiko (17)
(Note: those "depth" are listed by FA first then the draft picks by age who should have a strong shot of making the club. I have not seen the FA play, so I cannot comment on whether or not they would make it).
Beyond that, we have our other picks as well if someone wants to force the issue.
I do not expect any Americans or Patella up front to come to camp, but there are spots if any do.
On D, we have Desroches (20), Despont (19) and Gartley (18) returning. We traded for Cosman (19).
Our depth is: MacNiel (19) Welsh (19) Tracey (18) Fernandez (17) Bilodeau (17) Richard (16) Biakabutuka (16)
I do not expect to see any of Ramsay, Cliche, G Richard or Felicio in camp, but there would be a spot if any came.
In nets, the situation appears more clear: Patenaude/Hurtubise (20) will be returning (if Patenaude wants to return, we likely trade Hurtubise).
Brideau (17) should take the backup job.
We will have a few goalies in camp, but I don't expect to see D'Orazio (NCAA).

Interesting (well to me anyway) the team is using Hurtubise in their season ticket marketing material and not Patenaude.

Anyone know the reasoning behind having all of the Training camp games in Fredericton the past couple of years? If you are trying to grow the fan base I understand that but maybe they could do 2 games there and a couple here.

Interesting (well to me anyway) the team is using Hurtubise in their season ticket marketing material and not Patenaude. The last time that a President's Cup winnning starter played the next year (before Hurtubise last year) was Fucale. Had the 2021 Memorial Cup not been canceled, he would be the only goalie to play in the tournament multiple times AND come back in a very long time (only 2 teams have won the league back to back since 90-91). Some of this highlights what he could be for us, but that same selling point also highlights what he could be for a team like Gatineau or BLB.

If you are trying to grow the fan base I understand that but maybe they could do 2 games there and a couple here. Last year was due to renovations to TD Station, coupled with the QPlex not having ice at the time. I can't speak to this year, but I'd be shocked if cost wasn't a big part for both sides (Aitken Centre could potentially have the Reds and the Dogs use the ice) because I can't imagine that it is cheap to maintain ice in the middle of August when it is hot outside.

Burns- Reynolds- Elie Simek- MacDonald- Simard Burbidge- Trenholm- Bellemare Mateiko- Campbell- Cae. MacDonald Laforge, Akkouche
Bilodeau- Desroches Richard- Despont Gartley- Cosman Welsh
Hurtubise Brideau
Mix the pairings up, change the lines, this is more just for a visual then anything. Before camp, I would predict the team to look something like what I posted above.

So the only member of the coaching staff (behind the bench) left is Crickard..

With Georgie saying they are leaning towards an internal candidate for HC. Does anyone think Mike Eagles is maybe the person to take over?

If you look at who's left for "internal" options, there's basically only Eagles, Travis Crickard, and Paul Boutilier (Defense Consultant). So Mike Eagles definitely has a realistic shot at it.

One of the rumours making its way around town is that Andy Bezeau had an interview.
