Jelley didn't look at all out of place in the couple of games he played limited minutes in last year.... i'd be shocked if he isn't on the team this year

Six players cut from camp this morning, and an update on the veterans. Details below.
The Charlottetown Islanders have trimmed their Training Camp roster down to 29 players after six cuts were announced by the team Thursday morning. Three forwards, one defenceman, and two goalies were reassigned following the 6-5 overtime victory against Moncton on Wednesday night at the APM Centre.
Leaving camp are goaltenders Niko Boudreau and Zachary Horth, along with forwards Carl-Anthony Masse, Jacob McLellan, and Boden White, as well as defenseman Edouard Vincent.
Six veteran players are scheduled to arrive on Prince Edward Island on the weekend and begin skating in Pownal on Monday.
I am shocked that Masse was cut. Such a good skater and was offensively on fire throughout the scrims and preseason games. Wouldn't be surprised if I was missing some detail if there is a reason. If not, wow.
Remaining players:
Will Allen Brett Arsenault Sam Bowness Ben Boyd Jakub Brabenec Ross Campbell Trent Crane Keiran Gallant Michael Horth Jonah Jelley Jonah MacDonald Alexis Michaud Giovanni Morneau Carter Murchison Evan Nicholson Lucas Romeo Robbie Rutledge Jarrett Todd Mitchell Wagner Kevin Walker
Jeremie Biakabutuka Simon Duguay Marcus Kearsey Beren Simard-Sancy Jacob Squires Alexandre Tessier Anton Topilnyckyj William Trudeau Isaac Vos Jano Zambakdjian
Jack Flanagan Francesco Lapenna Dustin Riff Oliver Satny

Yeah I was kind of surprised to see Masse cut this early. I only saw him last night, seemed to be a good energy guy but didn’t really seem to be “great” at anything.
If he’s younger, maybe they take a longer look at him. But I believe he’s an 18 year old FA invite so that doesn’t help.

Masse looked to have had a couple of great exhibition games. Both nights he was about 50% on on the draws. On Tuesay he led the team with 5 shots and was on ice for all 4 goals scored. I found myself rooting for him to earn his way onto the team as basically an unknown.
His being cut likely is connected to the CEGEP deadline that is usually right around now. Players who are attending this program and who are 17 or 18 need to be signed earlier in pre-season to register for their program. Hopefully they retain Masse on the protected list. If he continues to impress in Jr. A, perhaps there is an opportunity at Christmas, especially if we stick to the script of rebuilding and perhaps selling off top assets.

Of the remaining players, there are a few non-vets who did not suit up for either pre-season game, making me wonder if they are, in fact, here: Crane Wagner Zambakdjian Wagner is listed on twitter as participating in the Yarmouth Mariners camp right now.... so I suspect he's decided to play Jr. A this year. Wagner is not NCAA eligibile due to the fact he played pre-season games last year. Zambakdjian did not play- preseason games last year, so he might be a guy looking at the college route. Last year he stuck around PEI all winter and played for The Mount Academy I'm not sure the story on Crane. He's an older player (19) who has played in the WHL. He played part of the season with the Summerside Caps last season. I am shocked that Masse was cut. Such a good skater and was offensively on fire throughout the scrims and preseason games. Wouldn't be surprised if I was missing some detail if there is a reason. If not, wow. I believe Wagner had gotten hurt early in training camp? Pretty sure I remember seeing a tweet stating that.
As for Crane, I’ve seen him in pictures posted so he is/was definitely here. Not sure if he’s just a shoe-in to make the team or just hasn’t suited up yet..

Right….it’s earlier in this thread. Maybe got hurt and went home. Maybe Yarmouth is just listing him with the expectation he will be back. I believe Wagner had gotten hurt early in training camp? Still recovering from the injury suffered last week. Not sure if he's still with the Islanders, though he's not playing yet. Once he's cleared to play, I imagine he has a good chance to stick with the Islanders as they are in their rebuild and he's only 17. Was starting to play better here right before he went back to the NS U-18 league where he got more playing time.

Glad he’s in the mix still for Islanders.
Given that he could play Jr A as 16, to me that shows promise he might be a major junior player.

As someone who hasn't been paying much attention to camp, how has Will Allen looked? Picked him up from the Sags last month. Played as a 16yr old last season in the MHL. Picked up 7 goals in 19gp with Miramichi. Played minor hockey in Ontario. He's a 17yr old FW with decent size. www.eliteprospects.com/player/640325/will-allenWhat's his story?

Glad he’s in the mix still for Islanders. Given that he could play Jr A as 16, to me that shows promise he might be a major junior player. He played here last year, but it was obvious he needed to add bulk/muscle. Was used on the 4th line here, so didn't have the linemates he needed to show what he could do offensively. There's a lot to work with, is still a project to some degree. His time with the Subaru (NS u-18 League) helped his development as he got more playing time and was joined by more offensively gifted kids and speed of the game was more of what he was used to. He may end up back here at some point, though it probably won't be for a couple years. We'll see how he progresses.
