Right….it’s earlier in this thread. Maybe got hurt and went home. Maybe Yarmouth is just listing him with the expectation he will be back. I believe Wagner had gotten hurt early in training camp? Pretty sure I remember seeing a tweet stating that. As for Crane, I’ve seen him in pictures posted so he is/was definitely here. Not sure if he’s just a shoe-in to make the team or just hasn’t suited up yet.. The Mariners have posted an update training camp roster; Mitchell Wagner listed as not attending/attending QMJHL camp. /photo/1 |

How has Topilnyckyj looked at camp? Really liked him in 20/21 season... thought wasn't as strong as he could be in 21/22 at the U18 level but also playing on a bad team. Really curious to see the steps that he takes moving forward.

How has Topilnyckyj looked at camp? Really liked him in 20/21 season... thought wasn't as strong as he could be in 21/22 at the U18 level but also playing on a bad team. Really curious to see the steps that he takes moving forward. I personally really like how calm & composed he's looked in the scrims and preszn games. Gets in the right spots, makes some good passes (super consistent in terms of not causing turnovers), and is a smooth puck mover, especially on power plays. For a guy that does have decent size, he's not an extremely physical defenseman (judging by historical stats, low on penalty minutes), but it wouldn't surprise me if he could hit or rough someone up pretty well. I believe he'll be a good fit with anyone on the D core. Him and Alexandre Tessier have been solid together. |

I will say that I'm surprised that we've never seen Vardy attend camps.
He's a 19yr dman who has no commitment to any NCAA school.
I understand that was his original plan, NCAA, but at 19, with no school commitment.......
Having a chance to play closer to home and to play for the CHL coach of the year......confuses me a bit.

I will say that I'm surprised that we've never seen Vardy attend camps. He's a 19yr dman who has no commitment to any NCAA school. I understand that was his original plan, NCAA, but at 19, with no school commitment....... Having a chance to play closer to home and to play for the CHL coach of the year......confuses me a bit. Tough for the kid to have a commitment at this point in time... SAC didn't play in 20/21 so bit of unknown after a good HS junior year / should of had a full HS senior year of touring college campuses with SAC. Had a pretty good year as an 18yo in the BCHL. I would imagine as a 19yo (assuming progression) he garners a bit of interest from some D1 schools and has something locked up by the end of his 20yo year. Vardy might actually be on the West Coast prepping for the season out there already. Now is really the start window for him to actually start the commitment process - not really high-end enough to have a commitment at 17/18yo. Brother also stuck to the route and still ended up in USport, could always be the case as well. |

Wouldn't be too out of the ordinary to keep a guy like that around the organization if he was well liked by staff. If he's too injured to play again it makes even more sense, it's good PR at least. |
