about the wildcats coaching situation, would Mario Pouliout be a consideration ? It seems that a coach with back to back Memorial Cups would be on any teams list ? is there something I'm missing ? does he have a history or something , not very familiar with the history of the Q very well . I'm not trying to bash anyone or insult anyone ! Thanks Why dump Lacroix for Pouliot?

some one posted this on page two of this thread ( not sure who to use the quote function ) and I was wondering what peoples thoughts are. Correct me if I'm wrong but you wrote one of these comments as part of a larger post.
Wondering if Lacroix starts the season as coach? Honestly would not be shocked to see a press release announcing he has been relieved of his duties ...
I believe Lacroixs contract is up. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong. Perhaps we get a Friday news dump with the farewell and lottery tonight and tomorrow.

Kidding aside ... there were plenty of rumours around town this winter that things weren't rosy with Lacroix and the team ... those subsided somewhat with the strong push down the stretch. But there was also a rumour a couple of weeks ago that had they lost game 7 to Baie-Comeau, Lacroix was set to be fired. I think Lacroix is a good coach - not irreplaceable. And good coaches still come with a shelf life ... so perhaps he has passed his with the Cats ... or perhaps he lives to start next season and it goes from there. If in fact his contract is up, that is another wrinkle ... much easier to just not renew than it would be to fire him and have to pay two coaches next season. I could envision a scenario whereby they let Lacroix walk, and Hepditch gets promoted from within for the 2023-24 season. Depending on how it goes, and especially if hosting the Mem Cup in 2025, they swing for the fences with a big name coach for 2024-25.

I don't know what the Wildcats plan for their goaltending this upcoming year, but 2021 14th rd draftee Keegan Warren had a very good season in Junior A for the Yarmouth Mariners and played great at the recent Centennial Cup (Canadian Jr A national championships). The team lost in the Quarterfinals, but he made a name for himself; kept his team in games, and got their lone win in the tournament. I see the Cats have 2 19 yr olds in net eligible to return plus have Keifer Thompson playing for Charlottetown in the NBPEI U-18 league.

His dad , Morgan Warren , played three seasons for the Wildcats and was drafted by the Maple Leafs .

I assume they’ll trade Fillion before the season so that he can get some more ice time, so the backup job should be wide open. It will be an interesting competition. I agree that Eli James seems like the front runner now, but I would count out Warren because he had a very good season in junior A. Moncton has been AWFUL at drafting goalies for the last 10 years. The only guy that was a Q calibre player was Lavallee and they traded him when he was 17. A lot of the past drafts were awful overall (Shannon years).

Well their goalie scout is the GM's son so I doubt it's gonna get better anytime soon. Honestly at this point I'm fine with them just taking late round fliers on goalies and just trading and hitting the free agent market for them. Just seems like a waste to use any top 5 round picks when it seems like they cant project them out well.
