Assuming you want something approaching the Rouyn model and that Imports play top 6/top 4/starting G 2 of 3 years each and all 3 OA play one of the roles, you approx 7 guys who can take one of these roles.
If you get 3 a year, you'd have 3 19, 3 18 and one spot that essentially could switch up.
That means that you need 3 players minimum in each draft class that can play top 6/top 4/starting G (or invites or trades to fill in gaps). From there, if you wanted to go for it, you could adjust from a base of strength.
Applying this to next year, I love Tivey, Ianniello and Reinhart with Akkouche possibly being one of these guys for 04s. Burbidge is one 05 and we have hopes for Bilodeau/Elie/Benoit

With a possibility of 3 2nds in this draft and a high euro pick should we package simek and picks to try and get into the first round maybe Moncton or cape Breton. I do like simek but with such a good euro pick you have to use it.

I wonder if a team might value Akkouche given that his abilities as a swing player |

Looking quickly at the CSR list, SJ should be able to do decently with this draft.
One quick note is that NB seems to be improving over the last while at developing players, but the number of top NB kids going NCAA (or leaning NCAA) keeps going up.
Also, I wouldn't be shocked if Chicoutimi continues to exploit the compensation system to take NCAA kids and essentially guarantee that they don't play in the Q.
With our later picks, I wouldn't be upset if SJ took a non-16 or two and see if you can find someone who could make for a decent invite.

Now that the draft is over,
we have 2 20s and 3 19s on the roster on D
That means that we could roll something like:
Ianniello - Cosman
Tivey - Gauthier
Bilodeau - Akkouche
Richard
as our top 7 D (or we could move pieces around if someone forces our hand).
Up front, we have Reynolds and Cournoyer on the depth chart. This is an either/or IMO, where Reynolds is here unless he is traded. Assuming that we don't use our Import pick (because we currently have 2), we could roll something like:
Mateiko - Burbidge - Beveridge
Simek - Reynolds - Reinhart
Thifault - Laforge - Elie
Benoit Beaulieu
where there are at least a few camp battles to be played out for spots and names like Calder and Bellemare who are expected to compete for spots.
In net, we can either run Shingarov-Brideau again, or we can run Brideau and have a competition for another goalie. I'm not sure that the gap between the two is that great, which would lend us the ability to bring in some bodies to fight for a spot. We aren't expected to do anything, so having Brideau and a weaker backup isn't necessarily worse than Shingarov and Brideau (because of the long term benefit).

You have Bilodeau on the 3rd pairing. The kid can play both sides of the Ice, he’s probably our best all round def we have. He had a great second half of the season leading all defs in points. I would have him with either Tovey or Gauthier on the 1st or second pairing.

I can't see Cosman as a 20 yo on the team. I think they will go with Shingarov/Brideau to start the season and go 50-50 and then evaluate at Christmas time.

There are some rumours swirling that Reynolds may be off to UNB/ forgo his 20yo season, there is a discussion happening now. Got it from a source who is usually pretty accurate. We shall see.

There would be no one we could get at 11 who’s better than the players we have? Not a definite upgrade. The guy Charlottetown took might be better, but it isnt a guarantee (same with Ansons). The guys that are definite upgrades went early, might not report or were drafted by London. |

There would be no one we could get at 11 who’s better than the players we have? Honestly, without Russia, and a lot of European players staying home, it's hard to get quality euros to come over now it seems. Like, there's very few elite imports that come in like even 10 years ago. |
