Talk of #8 being moved to Chicoutimi

I guess that’s maybe why I’m pushing the ‘pump the negativity breaks’. I get that 2005 and 2006 born players are high priority and needed for the big run that we were promised - but I also do think this season needs to see a playoff run to add some experience for the younger group, show fan base that we are building towards something special and also tell the 2004 group that this season is a potential try-out to see who wants to be apart of the team the following year Definitely need to add a top end scorer to play with Squires and Newcombe and having two committed euro’s would go a long way I expect Patterson,Sheilds, Lavoie, Daigle to make big steps this year You need a base in place to surround though. We're still way too premature in declaring 2025 as a "go for it" coming off the season we just did. Of course if you trade for nothing but 19's and 20's for that year it becomes a go for it season. But is it time? Did the proper building happen during the 2-3 drafts ahead of it? Or is it more "rink is empty so we need to win" stuff that just historically gets in the way of a proper rebuild? I see a couple of nice pieces and an awful lot of question marks. Are we better with Schmitt and making the playoffs and having him for 2 years or was the long term play of finishing a little lower and keeping all those picks and waiting to buy until a strong championship core starts to develop the better way to go? I mean it's not like we're buying the type of talent other teams have on their way to winning and with all due to respect to players like Newcombe and Schmitt they're good players but don't stand out as some of the best players in their age group to me and worth giving up the youth that should be parts of the core of a rebuild when it seems to be something we're really forcing vs doing what a Halifax did and let the core prove itself before adding final pieces via trade. If the pieces we're adding get passed by others on the development curve we'll be in a tough spot if more talented overagers his the market but we bought ours 2 years ahead of time.

Talk of #8 being moved to Chicoutimi Maybe Cape is in on the Loshko sweepstakes after all. With Antoine Verreault now being confirmed to RN for what could be 2X1 , does RN have the picks to make the Loshko deal? RN has 10 and 19 this year and their Own next year..which will be a late pick.

Sounds like Loshko is going to RN. Makes no sense for CB to pay for a 1 year player like that while paying a premium price. To give up a 1st to do a deal like that would be insane, honestly. Buying a star 19yr old for 1 year doesn't change the development of our players or their experience. Our players performing against the stars of a team like Halifax is how they will gain experience for the following seasons. Adding 3 19yr olds doesn't change that Lavoie is 17. We need to see players like Shields play at 17 and have a chance to earn some trust from the coaches. While also keeping some ammo to buy when the core is actually ready. How often have we seen teams who plan to buy suddenly not look as good and pivot to sell? Or a team unexpectedly show up a full year ahead of schedule? Let the team dictate when you buy big....not empty seats....

It was a name I thought made sense for Cape Breton before... I've seen a rumour about Komarov to the Eagles. But didn't he just sign his ELC with Buffalo ?

He could have the Best Team in the Q and he won't fill the Rink . Sad but True . If Simon moved up the Go for it Year to 24 ...........then he is not listening to "ANYBODY" and will Burn this thing to the Ground .

Komarov can't play in the AHL at 19, he was drafted in the NHL out of the QMJHL. The no players under 20 from the CHL rule applies to him.
I think it could be a fair deal if CB returns the picks they received for Langlois.

If it’s Komorov, it’s likely us sending the 2025 2nd back so it becomes Langlois for Komorov and a 3rd 2024.
