I’ve heard they are trying to work out a deal with Gatineau looking to move a 20 year old to Cape - I think we can all make an educated guess as to who that may be Cam MacDonald? would probably make sense, he wasn't signed to his ELC so I'd expect him back in the Q as an OA.

Would depend on the price as some teams have reportedly already reached out to Gatineau about MacDonald.

he would likely be a top 5 OA this season so I'd expect his value to be pretty decent.

With the dust settling from yesterday, are we safe to say the trade with Chi is now complete? Reports still have Mann coming to Cape and the return will be a 2025 1st. So I assume it will be a new trade and not a further extension of the mess involving Dessruisseaux?
A 1st for Mann is is very expensive by the way, even if it's a late 1st. Let's hope something else is involved.

They already have their projected top two RHD's in Lavoie and Schmitt. I they are going to toss out a 1st on a D at this point he had better be an 05 with some offensive upside to anchor the PP.

Couldn't agree more. Komarov I could get behind when he was rumored to be coming as compensation for Langlois, but trading a 1st for a 19 year old, makes no sense.
The challenge we have is that the 05 D market is slim on teams willing to give them up..for now anyway. So why don't we hold with what we have and use our assets when the time is right. Does Mann impact this group so greatly that we can't survive without him, does Sly see him a lock to be here as a 20?
If it was me, I would plan to open the season with the following and re-evaluate at X-Mas...who knows maybe a guy like Biggar is a target for a contender and the young guys show that they belong in the league, while building value.
Biggar-Lavoie Schmidt-Shortall Daigle-Waugh Desjardins

No question, this will not be the starting D-Core, it would not surprise me to see 2 new D in the mix before the start of the year, the question is, will the group be any better.

Biggar-Lavoie Schmidt-Shortall Daigle-Waugh Desjardins I can see Shortall being flipped in a trade for a overage forward. Owen Conrad is a possibility at #12 too, so you’d want to have the space to slot him in somewhere. Could start the season as: Biggar-Lavoie Daigle-Schmitt Waugh-Conrad X-Desjardins

My guess is 1st, 2nd 4th or something along those lines
