I see on the website under rosters that they have numbers given to what looks like the opening nightly roster… Kian Bell does not have a number which is disappointing Was there any update on his injury? He hit the boards so hard I was sure he broke his arm the way he skated off the ice. I was wondering if perhaps that made the decision a little easier depending on how serious he was hurt but I haven’t heard anything. Obviously injuries aren’t reported during preseason lol

Obviously injuries aren’t reported during preseason lol Was that Bell? Obviously I wasn't around to see that. Yes it was. It was ugly and he screamed and skated immediately off the ice. His arm was dangling like it was broken in that moment. I don’t usually get freaked out by injuries but up close that was hard to watch. It just looked bad! But with no updates I’m speculating… but if he broke his arm and wasn’t going to be ready to play for awhile, I imagine that makes Jim’s decision a little easier! Again, guessing.

Goaltending tandem finalized as Isles camp moves on. Shediac, NB native, Niko Boudreau, and Latvian import draftee, Aksels Ozols will defend the net for the Islanders after impressing Head Coach and General Manager, Jim Hulton, at this year’s training camp. “Boudreau and Ozols have set a good foundation for us in net,” he said. “Both come to the rink every day with the right mentality and have both put in tremendous amounts of work on and off the ice.” Players like second-year defenseman Marcus Kearsey are also taking steps in the right direction. “He’s put on an honest five pounds of muscle, which is a lot for a guy that age,” Hulton said. He added that Kearsey is more confident and has become more assertive in his play. Up front, Hulton has been impressed with newly acquired forwards such as Mathew Butler, Anthony Flanagan and other import draftee, Ondrej Maruna. Maruna’s physical play has been his biggest x-factor. One player in particular that has been a surprise for Hulton has been 18-year-old Kevin Walker. www.eliteprospects.com/player/641289/kevin-walkerHe’s come into camp this year looking much bigger, stronger and faster.” Veterans such as Micheal Horth, Giovanni Morneau, and newly acquired forwards, Cole Huckins, and Kian Bell also instill confidence in Hulton. “The veterans on the team are setting the table well for our younger players,” he said. There are still some players sidelined due to injury. Bell, who took a hard fall into the net in Pownal vs. Saint John, is currently day-to-day with a bruised forearm. He’s expected to return to action sometime next week. As for Sam Bowness and Jarett Todd, they are out long-term and won’t be ready for the start of the season.

I'm really excited about what 17 y/o Kearsey will bring to the table this year. Does he wear a letter for our young team? I know he is only 17....but I feel could be an excellent choice to be part of the leadership group. Goaltending tandem finalized as Isles camp moves on. Random question Isles fans, but what's the scoop on Nathan Mossey? He hasn't been been on the released/cut lists, but isn't listed next to Jarrett Todd as injured anymore. Where is he playing this year?

Where is he playing this year? He has had so many injuries the past 3 years.....I'm doubtful that he will play Major Junior hockey ever.

Where is he playing this year? Longest serving Islander to never put full equipment on ( he has been in a jersey at a few events) ever the all time mystery man having not seen much of anything this camp..... what is the deal with this Walker kid? looking at his profile he has good size but never put up any numbers anywhere..... how is he about to crack a major junior roster? is he merely a bottom 6 grinder? is there some untapped offensive potential there? what does the opening night look like goaltending is set d? any cuts left? is Vos still there? up front the 20 situation needs sorting but if veterans Todd and Bowness are out long term that opens up two roster spots for kids.....

Pretty sure the D is finalized, with Vos being there…
Hulton was quoted that the biggest surprise of camp thus far has been Walker..I’m sure he’s likely a career bottom 6 player, but by the sounds of it he could be more useful than a Todd, Bowness, Arsenault, etc..
