Shields is wearing number 72 for Charlottetown tonight.

Peddle to SJ for Reinhart, Anthony Biakabatuka, a 5th. I don’t think we could have done the Shields deal AND a similar deal for Peddle. We just don’t have something of similar value to Reinhart. Shields is likely a better fit for us age wise. I could see a deal between the Isles and Drummondville. They have a good relationship as they made deals together for years. I could see them wanting Horth and I would see Peddle coming to the Isles. Other pieces would be involved to get the deal done. Just my opinion.

One part of the roster I hope is addressed this trade period is the fact we only carry 6 regular defencemen on our roster. When Hinkley had to step away we didn’t really bring in reinforcements and we’ve rolled our 6 regular defencemen provided everyone was healthy and available.
Alexis Jacques and Coen Strang were used when needed and Zack Plamondon got an audition over Christmas, but at this level we really do need that extra body ready to go.

There’s gotta be a guy like Michel last year that’s just caught in a numbers game. I’m not a huge fan of his but I think adding another D man and creating a little competition for our D corps would do a world of good.

FWIW, Strang wasn't eligible for a callup until the trade window opened because he was acquired outside of a window.

Exactly why not just call Jacques up for the remainder of the season?

Yes, I know points do not indicate everything.
Strang has 28ts in 30gp for Amherst.
Jacques has 17pts in 25gp for Edmunston.
Strang is 19.
Jacques is 18.

I mean realistically Strang could probably step in and be a top 3 defenceman for us.
I think the smarter play would be Jacques, just for the age factor alone..

Today's the last day for trades right? It'll be interesting to see if Hulton makes any moves.
It's tough, the assets would be very nice but I don't want them to take any low offers on players out of desperation.
Maybe we were too, but we should've been actively shopping these players across the league, try to make a move rather than sit back and wait. We've been doing last second deals the last few years and it's just not really ideal because the other buyers or sellers already got the jump on you.
Guys like Reynolds are already contributing and adjusting to their new teams while we still have Horth and Morneau. Just not a good strategy if we're to get better.

The offers likely just aren’t there. It’s been a very weird trade period to begin with, but even with an hour til the deadline - there’s still multiple overagers that should move before Horth and Morneau. It takes two to make a trade, Jim can be ready to deal all he wants but there’s gotta be another GM willing to give up assets for our player

Rumour on the french boards involving Rouyn getting a depth defenceman from the Islanders.

Brett Arsenault to Rimouski for an 8th. What kind of F is he? I know he's more on the gritty side and probably seen as a fan favorite when he came in. What can he bring to the Oceanic? Tx!

Energy guy…plays hard, not gonna put up any amount of points or knock anybody out. He’ll be a good 4th liner that can PK. I actually thought he was decent enough for us this year, especially considering he’s a local guy and only 18.

Sad to see Arsenault go. He reminded me a lot of Gallant. Not a go-to guy if you need the game tied, but put in a solid effort every night.
For an 8th though, I would've just kept him.
