Biggest question for me is what does Jim do about the 20s?
Ruccia and Goriunov you would think are locks, seeing as though they were trade acquisitions, but that leaves Hughes and Vos to battle it out for the final spot.
Both guys have shown they belong in this league. I honestly think Hughes could have a Horth type of season if he's put with Butler. He can be a big net-front presence.
Vos I think was the best defensive defenceman on the team last year. He took strides offensively too. He's a well-liked guy in the locker room.

Hughes and it shouldn’t even be a question

Yeah I don’t think it’s even a question, we need scoring much more than we need another depth D.
Vos will be with the Caps and I’m sure he will likely put up some great numbers with them

Interesting development. To make an effort to invite him to camp means that they favour him over Carl-Etienne Michel, who isn’t coming to camp.
As mentioned, offense is where we are needy. Hughes was one of our better scorers last season….but his career high in points is 35.
Maybe they are looking for 1 FW, 1 D, 1 G amongst the 20 y/o players.
Maybe there is a hangup on getting Goriunov here. As a Russian national, he would have opportunity to play in Russia should he choose that direction.

Michel decided to quit hockey, reason why he's not listed for training camp. Probably why Steen got an invite.

He's an Island kid..... pretty easy invite to camp Hard pressed to make the team IMO but then I didn't think he would make it last year either so what do I know

We've got a number of new free agents added on the Q website:
-Logan Biser is an 07 LW from Guelph, Ontario. He has dual Canadian/Swiss citizenship. Last season he played with ZSC U17 in Switzerland and scored 9-6-15 in 36 games. He is 5'11" and 180 lb.
-Jordan Harrison is an 05 C from Toronto. Last season he played with Port Colborne of the GOJHL and scored 2-6-8 in 34 games. Harrison is 6'2" and 190 lb.
-Clint MacLaughlin is an 06 RW from Antignoish. Last season he played Jr. A with Pictou and West Kent and scored 0-2-2 in 47 games. MacLaughlin was a 10th round pick by Shawinigan in 2022. MacLaughlin is 6'1" and 180 lb.
-Liam Wolf-Tolbee is an 05 C from Charlotte, NC. The past few season he has played in the Rothesay Netherwood program. Wolf-Tolbee is 6'0" and 185 lb.
-Wyatt Gregory is listed as a D on the Q website but more likely he is a FW. Last season he played with Amherstview of the PJCHL where he scored 26-8-34 in 42 games. Gregory is an 06 and is 6'0" and 176 lb.

Did anyone catch the game tonight? Any standouts? Saw a lot of returning forwards did not play but returning D did, is that just due to shear number of D attending where we didn’t have enough to sit the D?

I was at all 3 games. I’m not sure I have any real experienced feedback. Overall I can see the skating seems to have improved from some of the guys last year. I really like the look of Lemieux-Goupil. I could see chemistry between him and Kearsey and they looked good together as a defensive line. He seems like a real solid player for his age. Kinda hoping to see him stick around. We’ll see what happens in the games in the next couple of days!
Also I think Steen stood out. And Vos kind of got lost in the shuffle in game 3. Hughes hasn’t played yet.

Haven’t been able to check out any of the games thus far, but I feel like I’ve seen Stumpf’s name a few different times on the social media highlight posts…06 that put up over a PPG last year in the GOJHL.
Way too early to say anything yet, but maybe he’s a nice FA add to stick on the 4th line

Madden Steen looked very poised as a 20 year old invite with extensive OHL experience. His possible addition would certainly put Duguay and Hughes on the roster bubble. Steen, Stumpf and Caines stood out for new guys. Herron and Masi looked good for 16 year olds.

Steen, Stumpf and Caines stood out for new guys. Herron and Masi looked good for 16 year olds. Was there yesterday for both games missed Sunday night this is what I saw : Standouts : Kearsey Conrad Gourinov Caines Stumpf Plamondon Steen Valente Yuzik Shields Butler Powers Smith 08 Draft pick standouts .. reason I went to watch : Herron - Best 08 on ice in my opinion was very noticeable plays center position very well they put him with Pouliot and Yuzik made those guys look good cause they are slow. He’s tough on puck brings in puck with ease. Bad news is he signed commitment with Maine so … he’s prob gone today and won’t see him anymore and maybe we sign him next year. Goupil - Big man never seen him play before looked comfortable out there not ready yet but great pick at 3. I’m sure he can play here next year. Was comfortable playing with our best . Masi - Great speed at 16 already Q level speed, made things happen when had puck good passing and vision was playing on bad line not sure why they didn’t give him anything to work with like the other 08’s? Was impressed by his complete game in all zones. Needs to toughen up along the walls this year but really liked him can play top 6 for sure. Talk in rink seems like he’s not staying past 48 hours, has NCAA options and we not giving him contract so till next year we hope . We need to keep this man Great pick ! Pouliot - Big man, they put him with Herron and Yuzik which helped his game for sure. This kid shoots the puck and finds open space took advantage of playing with Herron had good scoring chances. Needs to work on his skating he doesn’t skate well and looks lazy at times because he’s not moving. Will need another year in M18 and work on those things for sure before thinking of Q if he gets that going he can score a lot of goals for us. Rogerson- impressed me great speed had some good flashes at times hard working man. Not very big but plays tough he can be something for us in the future.
