Mateiko is the big fish for sure. Id say he could bring a potential 1st+, Peddle should have good value to very strong player in this league.

Bilodeau Was not someone I would think of being traded as the team will loose the two 20s next year and if you trade him the back end now only has Duhamel, MacLean and Amyot with experience. Duhamel is a solid player, MacLeans game has grown and would be top 4 next year and Amyot if he stays healthy but I don’t see the others guys in top 4 at least not right now.

Good fit for Mateiko is Rimouski IMO they need a euro upgrade. I feel if SJ trades with RIM it will be future based unless SJ take the Cats 1st in 2024.

Peddle being there for 1.5 years after the deadline makes a BLB trade make sense a boost this year and next.

They are not trading the number 3 rank on the team, and we don't need a defenseman, so it leaves St-Hilaire and draft picks.

It would be a St-Hilaire, another upcoming 17yo player, and a draft pick to make any sense.

Rim emptied the tank for draft picks, so they are in a tough position to get a goalie without giving up some existing players.

I disagree wholeheartedly.

Rimouski's list of needs/wants is goalie and more scoring (and maybe another D).

They are likely about to add Belzil for free. Nadeau may get sent there for the 2nd half.

Assuming that they wanted to do all their shopping in one place, they could acquire Gravel, Mateiko and Bilodeau without touching any of their core players. If they wanted to aim bigger, they might have to move more, but they still have guys like Pare who could be sold for value with an older guy brought in to replace him.

Be interesting to see what conversations are starting to happen. I'm sure the sellers are looking at their poker hands and seeing what cards they have.

But now you have the coach in charge in SJ, so it will be an interesting trade period, no one knows the needs of the team more than the person who is at every game in the heartbeat of the team. Like anything else we discuss here, Time will tell my friend.

As good as Gravel is, the OA goalie market is very tough in terms of getting great assets in return. Theres also Rousseau, who I’m sure would be contenders 1st choice if going for an OA goalie and even he may not fetch a 1st

I also think Rimouski is fine with St-Hilaire and Lacelle as a tandem. But if they do upgrade they probably grab Rousseau. Rimouski also still needs depth elsewhere and will likely use their futures to do so.

St Hilaire and Lacelle as a goaltending tandem when you’re hosting the Memorial Cup? No way Rimouski does that.

Gravel is a toss up but likely dealt to a contender.
