Don`t forget....Brassard has a very bad record with the team of Patrick Roy....like is head coach...Dumont not a great coach....same problem they have in Val D`or....
Dumont>> same problem with Val D`or.....the half of the players didn`t want to play for him

I believe we have all been guilty of overestimating our present club.
The mem cup will be hosted again by the Q in 2017.(the CHL wants to be in Toronto for the 100th edition).
I want to see this tournament in Sydney. I want us to prioritize our assets to make a strong team be a part of our bid.
With a potential D consisting of 20's Leveille, Deschamps and MacIntyre and 19 year olds Bell and Lalonde I think patience until 2017 may be well worth it.

The potential to have a really good team that year is good but what do you do with Bishop, Pelletier, and Svechnikov?

Enjoy them while they are here! A couple of years of good hockey ending with a mem cup tournament is what I am wishing for?

I never really considered it, but I mean, if this team continues to be awful this year, we could potentially have 3 very high picks in this years draft + a late 1st from O'Leary. I doubt its on Dumonts mind though to be honest, hes always really been building for the 2015-2016 season with our forward core in their prime and our D with an additional year of experience. Honestly either one I think has the potential to be a legitimate contender so I'd be more inclined to go with next year as who knows what the forward core will look in 2017, Dubois is the only "guarantee" in my opinion in that regard. Look at the last years Bishop and compare it to his play this year, its like night and day, if we have even one of Bell, Lalonde or Leveille (who I think is playing amazingly btw) make a similar jump in their game after experiencing an NHL training camp, I feel our blue line could be among the leagues best. And that's under the assumption that we don't use any of our assets this year to pick up a potential top pairing defensemen. Yeah, the team has underachieved big time this year, but I don't think that's enough reason to scrap the 2015-2016 plans.

Next season has to be the "go all in" year, this season has-been disappointing to say the least. With the talent we have and the assets we can use to accumulate the players we need it's a no brainer to me. With that being said my wishlist is sending Darcy to Riki at Xmas and whatever else we need to send in June for DeLuca, pick up a 20 yo dman that can play D. Matt Murphy should be also on this team after Xmas, and buy your goalie in June. Easy said then done but not that far off from what we have in assets and prospects

This post reminded me of what I saw browsing the Darcy thread: At least all the discussion isn't about who to draft at first overall next year. I liked the post at the time thinking it's true, at least the discussion isn't about who to draft at first overall... Little did we know that conversation could still happen I hope to hear a "Thank you Roy" chant when Chicoutimi is in town (Jan. 28) Kessel style, even if CB hasn't come around yet.

It is my opinion that this team will turn around and have a good season. Brassard is for sure in a slump, but that is certainly not uncommon for young goalies. Even though he is a senior in this league, he still is only 20. I am not a big fan of this sell the future for today. That, more often than not, doesn't always work. Cape Breton did that before, and ended up with a future boring team, and attendance drops. It is my opinion we should work with most of what we have for this year. I even think we should be making a strong pitch for callum booth for 2016 and 17. Maybe they could use darcy for the memorial cup, and they certainly could use a couple of picks in next years draft. They also have 3 19 year old d-men, and one would think they would be in rebuild mode next year. If we can keep the two Russians, we already have what appears to be a couple of potent lines next year, and with two new euros and our prospects this team looks good into 2017 and 18. Yes, we have made a number of early exits in previous years, but that of course was not always because we had weak teams. This is junior hockey, and it is also very entertaining to see high end drafts develop in our town. In summary, we have what appears to be strong 1-2 line combinations over the next 2+ years. We have depth on defense going forward. We need to address the goaltending for the next two years, and the only player that this poster would sacrifice a couple of firsts for appears to be callum booth. We may need to add some grit players down the road, but not at a high price please. We could make a legitimate pitch for the 2017 memorial cup host, from a team with far more potential than our last bid.

You are getting ahead of yourself Norris. Lol. I am still having mixed feelings about Christmas time -- Junior hockey wise as well as gift buying , family meals etc.

Good post. However , I feel it would be a failure to focus on 2017 with the assets we have ( Even though they have yet to be clicking on the ice) . We should be making our run next year. I originally thought we should add a few assets for this year. Sucks how that is working out. This team will likely lose Pelletier , Bishop , Lazarev and Svechnikov in 2017. Euros like those two Russians are hard to come by. Especially to a small market like CB and the fact a Euro must now play out his contract. This is the best Euro duo we ever had and likely will be the last great duo to play here. You also seem afraid to go all in. Going all in is a must to win a championship. With the playoff format the way it is a top 5 team would be crazy to not go all in. The aftermath to 2010 sucked because there was no way we were beating Moncton or SJ ( Shit playoff format ) and because we lost our shirt. The hardcore fans did not mind going for it in 2004 and 2007 but they sure as hell could not stand the 2010 decision. The 3 way trade for Jacob Lagace was the nail in the coffin. A player that would score maybe 5 EN goals here Of course hindsight on that specific example but not on the overall decision. Perhaps if this team does not turn it around maybe it will be better for the braintrust to put the money they would have put towards a Memorial Cup bid and instead keep Dumont on as GM but get a new head coach. Not to mention who knows how long this team stays here. I would not think the owners would be making a fortune right about now. There are worst off clubs ( Looking at you CHarlottetown and BAthurst fans) but I would not call CBSE a money machine. If this league gets unionized we can say good-bye to the team.

Some guy who calls himself Patrick has indicated that there will be an interview with Dumont on the Eagles broadcast tonight specifically in regards to the Christmas trading period.
Should be interesting
