As one of the people that consistently call Dumont a moron, idiot, etc.. Calling him names gets you nowhere, but I honestly can't praise any coaching decisions he's made. As for the GM aspect.. I can praise a few different trades.. but at the same time I take some of that back based off what he didn't do.. *cough* Bowers *cough*... The fact that you can just waste a 4th overall pick in the middle of years you're expected to go for it and never have to offer anything but "he was the top ranked player" as the reason for it brings me back to the horrors of the Ilya Kovalchuk fiasco of 15+ years ago. That 4th overall pick is now a 9th overall pick with nothing else in return. A top 5 pick, like one that netted us a top pairing Dman, is pissed away at a time where what we needed was pretty much 1 more top pairing Dman. And this for a player that we had at least 1 team seriously interested in and we turned down the offer that might have also netted us extra depth that likely puts us in position to beat an SJ or maybe even flip the whole season and have home ice for a big 7th game after a top 5 finish. Maybe we'll use our Euro pick on Laine this year. I'm told he's pretty good. Maybe we can convince him to come here. Dumont's blinded by his own moves. For some reason he was convinced and will be convinced again next year that Ty Fournier is a top 6 forward if not a top liner which he most likely will be. As for acquiring a top pairing Dman.. Rimouski was interested in Bowers, so maybe the Eagles could've acquired Picco with other pieces which is more believable then Simon Bourque who's been linked to this board for a while.. Those other pieces could've been a 1st and 2nd round pick or something along those lines. Picco isn't the guy we needed but he would've certainly been more effective then Baillergeon or Dower. Yeah I heard that Laine is pretty good... Supposed to be ranked pretty high for some sort of draft that's in a months time!

There were a few games in the playoffs when the pairing of Dower and Baillargeon looked like the best unit on the ice! Maybe we could have used him more then MacIntyre, Gosselin, or even levielle

Which is the sentiment of the majority of folks on and off this Board . Honest question... You were/are as upset with this Dumont thing as anyone but are going to renew for another full season. What would it take for them to lose your business at this point? Would there just have to be no team to support? FOLKS Dodging this Question Johnny ? OK ...Honest Question deserves an Honest Answer . I lived away for a lot of years in a very very very Rural Area ....Nothing above Lower Level Rep Hockey that the kids had no choice but to play , so that's what there was to watch , Coming back to Cape Breton allowed me to be able to watch Major Junior Hockey , I was away for the Oilers so I can't compare the two but Top Level Junior Hockey ? I was estatic . I am very upset with Dumont and it pisses me off that Andre Cote give this Freakin Guy the Keys for the next two years and he is talking already about restarting a cycle of rebuild ( 2 years Job Security will do that ) ......but I am leaning towards renewing . Having a Team to support is BIGGER than both Dumont and Cote .....so No Team would have to be "MY" Answer .

Gosselin looked far from an overage defenseman at times.. It was hard to watch..

As bad as Dumont is with asset management we still have assets. Why not hold on to Dubois for another year maybe two and use some of those assets to get some players in here to play with him? People are pointing out another rebuild cycle however we have arguably the best player in the Q in our possession. Who knows maybe we get lucky and get a veteran player back like LeBlanc? Maybe thats just wishful thinking or maybe its to much to ask Dumont to get creative and make something workout positive for once..

I'm always curious to hear about how people look at this stuff as we all have different reasons and views for the kind of support we give.

Then we're starting again with nothing and trying to be the team to fill holes using future picks and the kids we draft now. Would make a lot more sense to use Dubois as the big piece to gain 3 or 4 assets and build around youth. We don't have the depth on the back end or in goal to buy our way back into the level of a team like Saint John.

Fully agree. We are not deep enough to contend right now. We have 2 options, acquire some pieces to fill the holes and build around Dubois and whatever new guys are brought in.We could conceivably have 3 first round picks this year plus 2 new Euros. Option 2 would be to trade off your biggest chip (Dubois) and kickstart a rebuild. Dubois is a very valuable asset and could very well be the best player in the league next year, could probably bring in 3-4 assets.

I'd see what the market is for Dubois at the draft just to get a feel for it. His value will be high but unless he gets returned to the Eagles it won't take off until Christmas. Obviously he'll be back depending on who picks him, the consensus is between 3-10 for Dubois, and only team that would keep him around imo would be Vancouver.

I was just looking at different scenarios seeing as we now have Dumont for another 2 years. At this point I'm not sure what expectations I have for him or this team for the next two seasons. We can only hope he rebuilds this team properly.

Me Thinks .....Come Draft Night ........another Team will be making that pick at 4 . Agreed but it will likely be a team in the 5-8 range looking to grab a Tkachuk or Dubois or even a Chychrun or Sergachev. It's pretty wide open after 3...Edmonton would be stupid to not move down a bit...but that's never stopped them from picking when they should have traded down before...
