If the Oilers were smart they would trade that pick.. But then again.. it's the Oilers Peter Chiarelli has had one draft with the Oilers.. one he won the lottery to draft the best prospect in 10 years. Not really fair to judge him based on previous regime mistakes. Wasn't really pointing at Chiarelli.. More at the organization as a whole. Yes he did well in acquiring the picks used to select Hamilton and Seguin, but he also gave Seguin away for a bag of pucks..

I should be asking you that. There's zero information to indicate Chiarelli plans on rushing his 1st pick this year. Vancouver has been quoted as saying it's a possibility their 1st pick makes the team. The assumption based on past history is that anything beyond the top 1 or 2 picks likely won't stay in the NHL. Especially when the only info out there about Edmonton is their willingness to move down from 4. The Oilers were among the top-five youngest teams in the NHL. They had eleven players under the age of 25; eight of whom played at least 20 games. Two of their three oldest players - Pardy (32) and Ference (37) - played a combined 12 regular season games. The Oilers are an exceptionally young club. Dubois wouldn't be out of place there as an 18-year-old. Them being so young already is the reason they wouldn't keep a player like him. Chiarelli is in charge there, not Kevin Lowe or any of the other idiots who were running that team in the past. He has no reason to want to rush and ruin another high 1st rounder. Unless a Dubois goes in there and earns top 6 ice time in training camp there's no reason to believe Edmonton won't be sending their 1st rounder back to junior.

Charelli said at The Lottery that they owe it to the fans to get better now and if that means Trading the Pick for players that will make them better now....... then that is what they are going to do . With 4 First Overall's and one of them being The Next Great Player , it's a little easier to do that . I say they add some Back End Help and the cost will include that 4th pick .

I expect him back in junior next year regardless of who picks him. However, he's a terrific player with great size so he might surprise and play in the NHL in the fall.

Vancouver said even before they traded McCann that they expect their Lottery Pick to step in , that being the one benefit of picking that high .....so I would be nervous if Trevor Linden starts by saying "The Vancouver Canucks are pleased to select from the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles........

No they didn't Jim Benning is the GM and he was on the Toronto sports talk scene last week suggesting whomever they pick would have to knock their socks off to play right away.... said he has his eye on 2 kids and has no problem with them spending another year in junior

Not sure if its been mentioned but the Eagles have added goalie Matt Jurusik to their protected list. He's a 97 and played last year at U of Wisconsin.
I wonder if theres a chance he shows up in CB.

Was wondering the same thing myself, there is also an American born Dman on the list as well. We haven't had much luck with the Americans reporting, hope that changes. The last two American of any significance were Cameron Darcy and Charlie Penn.
