I feel for Larmand, the kid is a human after all cut by Sudbury, short time with us not working out dealt to Shaw, and immediately placed on Waivers. (At this point in the season the kid might have just gone home, maybe plan to play CIS next year)
I know teams only have 3, 20's spots and most have their 20's!

Poor Ponzentto now,He was drafted by us played till Jan and then the poor Kid played maybe 1 game for Shaw(I don't know if he played Sun) and was promptly dealt to Bathurst. (If I was him don't even know if I'd report to Bathurst since the future of their team is so up in the air right now)
hockey can be cruel sometimes!

I can’t help but think it might not be a good idea what Shawinigan is doing with euros this season. They had Braillard and Klima, acquired Barbashev, released Braillard, traded Barbashev for Sprynar, traded Sprynar for Ponzetto and released Ponzetto. It might not help in dealings with euro agents.

So the trade realistically is Peitzsche, 2nd 2024 Mon, 3rd 2025 Hal for Sprynar and Denis. Nothing wrong with that at all. I already said I see Halifax picking a goalie with there pick this year. The pick will be in the same ball park area of the Ponzetto. I think a goalie might ne the best move with a pick that late. All the good position player will be gone by then. I just wonder if Cam finally cut ties with Swiss.

Definitely agree with you that there won't be a lot of talent where we're picking in the import draft - but in a rebuilding year, would it be the worst thing in the world to run a tandem of Milner and Madgett (13-1-0, 1.77, .939 in U18)? When I watch Madgett in warmups, he's pretty impressive for a 16 year old. Big frame, good hands, moves well.

That said, I still think Denis is a very good choice, plus you get Sprynar in the deal.

I can see him joining the team at 18 when Rooster is gone. Rooster will probably be gone at Christmas next season but I don’t think Madgett would be ready just yet. I’m sure they’re going to try to get Madgett into Junior A hockey next season. Once he gets a boost of confidence as a full time goalie he’ll be a decent backup, also probably would be the first time we’ve ever had a Nova Scotian Tandem in nets, correct me if I’m wrong. The goalie market in Nova Scotia has been extremely small. It’s not the end of the world if Halifax passes their import selection next season. Maybe there’s a 19 year old they can claim for cheap just to get through the start of the rebuild. Then bring in a top import and a top player with our 2025 1st round pick. Then we’ll have to see what our loadout is in 2025-26 too early to talk about that. But I expect Sprynar is a 20 but that season if all goes well.

I'm sure he will be fine. also the future of this team is fine, unless you just mean having a position in the lineup next year then there's no guarantee.

Maybe there will be less pressure on him in Bathurst and he can relax a bit more on the ice. I hope we regret trading him.

I think next year can be a one off. There’s a lot of moving pieces but where next year is a Mem Cup year Halifax is going to have very attractive players that teams will pay for. Then look at the players that are already in place. Look at the 2006 and 07 they already have lined up. They trade Rousseau, MacKinnon, Videck, and Cataford for a mix of picks and futures this team could be interesting in 2025/26. That’s a talk for the summer though.

I believe Keller is also a dual citizen for France and Swiss so Ponzetto having some common ground there may help! He's still young as well so I'm sure he will get a good look the second half of the season in hopes to potentially return next year and be even better.

I’m quite excited to see Luke McPhee play, not sure why, just got a good feeling about him, love a good hometown underdog story. Seems like a hard worker.

When does everyone think the first piece of Dumais news/update will break?

When does everyone think the first piece of Dumais news/update will break? I am just curious about the Dumais situation. I am pretty sure the Mooseheads said they were waiting until this weekends game to honor the Mooseheads players that represented Canada. So does that mean Dumais will be back in town? That doesn't necessarily mean he would be playing. Curious to hear an update on his status.

And it may have been assumed that Dumais won’t be injured thus this Saturday being the first game back with everyone (which may not be the case anymore). I don’t know enough about his injury but it seems like it could be anything from in the lineup Saturday to season ending surgery.
