The mooseheads also shared on their own social media that the expected time for recovery is six week. This would put him back in the line-up WAY before play-offs (his return given surgery on the 19th would be March 1st - 4 weeks before the first round of playoffs).

So should we assume that the issue Dumais has been dealing with all along has been figured out and will be fixed with this surgery? It seems like it was just speculation up to this point as to what his issue actually was. This hopefully will fix his ongoing issue and he will be ok going forward. Hopefully there are no other issues that will keep him out longer.

A lot of the stuff with the story earlier in the day seemed like speculation rather then anything official. It sounds like it's very similar to what L'Heureux had during last season where he was sent back to Nashville, got it done, and returned with no issue on performance whatsoever. With the timing of 6 weeks (putting it at early March at the latest)- that's a dream scenario for us as that would likely (assuming no issues)- get him back in the lineup before the end of the regular season.

You can rule that out. He's not playing junior hockey as an overager under any circumstance next year. I don’t think it is inconceivable that he starts the year in the pros, struggles a bit, and is returned to junior at Xmas a la Gendron this year. Before the injury I had my doubts as to how well his game would translate to the pros … in my mind this increases the risk. I just don't see a world where he struggles to produce offensively in the AHL to the point he is returned to the juniors. I tend to agree with you that I've always doubted how he would perform in the pros, but this is a guy that's averaged OVER 2 P/GP in 2 consecutive seasons and just always finds a way to surprise me.

So much for this season. Wow That might explain why no Mianscum or other bigger names - and the addition of Luke McPhee. Gotta feel bad for Dumais - and if anything, his chances of making the NHL probably just took a major hit as well. Hip flexors are one thing, but chronic hip injuries needing surgery are another. I can't remember anybody needing double hip surgery this side of 70. The Moose still have a good chance of making the division final - or more, but that news really sucks. Cataford - Vidicek - Kilfoil Reynolds - Denis - Sprynar Levesque - B. MacPhee - Crosby Todd - L. McPhee - Moser Fontaine Just fyi if you Google it you’ll see double hip surgery is common enough amongst players. I could list off a bunch of players who have had it. More often goalies than players.

I think they would rather him struggle in the AHL then put up 170 pts or whatever number as a 20 year old in junior. I see him as very similar to Conor Garland in that sense (without the pest behaviour). Garland had 14 pts in his first AHL season and there was never a point where he was close to getting sent back.

Peitzsche scores in his debut with Shawinigan.
Ponzetto scores in his Bathurst debut.
Lol we needed that last month.

I think Sam Savoie is the kind of player Halifax is missing on its roster. He would have brought the same kind of game as L'Heureux.

Word on the street is Lou is back Thursday and Crosby is back Saturday (possibly even on Thursday). That’s what they said at the season ticket holders skate!
