I thought the Q players showed really well. Lamoureux - Komarov is going to be a nightmare to play against come playoff time.

for a taller lankier guy Lamoureux is very sturdy and a really good skater. Makes sense why Arizona took him in the 1st round. Lots of potential and will definitely be hard for the other contenders to play against him.

Lots of potential and will definitely be hard for the other contenders to play against him. The two previous times he's played here in Halifax as a 17YO and 18YO I've been underwhelmed/unimpressed - but judging from this tournament he's really put it all together with his decision making. Noah Warren is the complete opposite. When you watch him in person, you can see the plus tools and compete level but he just doesn't read the game well at all.

Agreed on Lamoureux and Warren, Lamoureux has progressed but Warren has not! lamoureux tough to play against but I have to say that Furlong looked good all tournament, he wasn’t noticeable and that’s a good thing, he proved last year in playoffs that he and moravec can shut down top players!! Furlong covered a lot for Warrens low hockey IQ and it was noticeable!! Really to bad Luneau was not available, him and furlong has a pair would have been huge for team Canada and it would have game us two top D pairings!! With both offence and defence pairs !!!

Canada had a bunch of strong, fast guys that were good North/South and along the boards, but they weren't a good passing team overall. The coach let them take really long shifts too. They also lacked that scary offensive D from the blueline. They dominated the play for the last two periods, but couldn't hit the net on their best chances.
That all said - Another nail-biter against another strong team. We've been lucky to have the breaks go our way many times. This time it didn't go our way. No summit series needed, we will back in the mix yet again next year.

doesn't help majority of Canada's pure snipers like Rehkopf didn't get as much ice time as lot of the defensive or two-way type forwards. Besides the blowout game where they scored 10, this team struggled to score all that much vs the good teams.

Czechs totally revamped their program too and the results are showing. Two amazing back to back showings vs Canada supports that. The world is catching up to Canada. It's no longer just our game. Sweden, Finland, USA, Czech are all capable of winning this tournament. Slovakia had a great tournament but fell apart late, even Latvia and Germany are finding more consistent success in this tournament. It's not that Canada choked, they just lost to a good team. It's what I love about this tournament, it's anybody's to win. All of this is factoring in a perennial favorite is banned from the tournaments currently. Once the ban is lifted on Russia, the competition only intensifies. Important to remember too that we were missing 6 or 7 guys playing in the NHL (plus a few injuries). Nice to see our three guys contribute and I hope they get a warm reception at the next home game, even though things didn't turn out the way we wanted. I wouldn't really count them though. Like sure technically Bedard could've played but we knew that was never going to happen. And it's totally fine too, if they're thriving in the NHL, there's no reason to bring them into this tournament and risk injury. As for injuries, every team deals with them. There's no sense dwelling on it. But now that Canada's out...Mennään Suomi! And a side note, as an Islanders fan I can't say I'm sad to see a bunch of Mooseheads leave the tournament lol, but yes, they 100% deserve a warm reception. They played great.

Read this in this morning's CH "We have failed an entire nation....We want to say sorry to everyone back home'" (Jake Furlong).
I sure hope he didn't mean that, and more importantly, doesn't feel like that. He played amazingly well and has gone from a second round pick in the Q to one of the best defenceman (in his age group) in the World. From my perspective, Canada dominated the game against the Czech's (certainly the second and third period) - an unlikely bounce and we lose. No shame in that.
I know there is a lot of pressure on these kids to win, but there's no shame in this loss. Jake and his teammates should hold their heads up high.

Anyone watch the Sweden/Switzerland game? What horrible calls they kept calling against the Swiss. Probably denied us another epic upset yesterday.

Probably some of the worst officiating I’ve ever seen given the situation and importance of the game. It definitely stinks of rigging. I wouldn't blame the Swiss for any kind of protest or complaint about that game. They were all over Sweden in overtime and suddenly they make that call? Gotta make sure the host stays in for the ticket sales I guess. Never thought I'd be cheering the Americans on should the finals be Sweden/USA. I'd love to see the finals be Finland/Czechia though.

Anyone watch the Sweden/Switzerland game? What horrible calls they kept calling against the Swiss. Probably denied us another epic upset yesterday Switzerland has a legitimate gripe with over how that game was called, as does Sweden, after the Swiss were able to get away with multiple questionable non-calls in the entire third. By swallowing their whistles for almost all of the period only to buy Filip Bystedt's sell (love that kid, but he's not winning any Oscars), just an awful look. Instead of any sort of rigging I felt like it was a makeup call/game management thing. Pretty sure the zebras are meant to be less obvious with those, epic failure there. That being said... the penalty Mattias Hävelid drew in overtime was a legitimate penalty, and Hugo kept them alive until ASP got them through. I especially liked how all of the QF games were close- besides USA, who is just fun to watch anyways. I'm going to predict Sweden and USA in the gold medal game as a rematch of the past two U18s gold medal games and last WJC's absurd bronze medal game. I would love Finland to medal but I'm not so confident in that one.

Two incredibly weak goals on the Czech goalie so far. Hopefully he shakes them off and it stays a competitive game.

wonderful start from Finland, hope they can keep it up. If I was the Finnish coach I would have shown my team the Herb Brooks speech (with Finnish subtitles) from before the American's 80' game with the Soviets.
Play up that underdog role.
