Jr is as smart as his father.........yes that was sarcastic!!!! Saint John would not stand for a tool like Jean as coach......Hell, we ran a shitty announcer out of town after onlt our 2nd home game!!! He got worse by the minute!! The giant score board says 6-1 and he announces final score 7-1 So, if Jean were here he would be long gone

I doubt theres anything to that. I have heard a similar rumour a few times before. There were rumours that Gerard Gallant and Jim Clark were buying the team during the preseason...but that was false

If there is not truth to it, no worries. I just wish it was Yannick Jean's place that was for sale... Anyone up for egging it on Halloween? It's in Stratford.

Maybe it's just a matter of Serge Sr not payng enough attention to what's going on on PEI.
Didn't he mention, when he was interviewed on Eastlink, that he doesn't pay much attention to hockey any more, and spends a lot of time down south now?
It's a shame really.....his namesake is not doing a very good job. Perhaps Savard Sr hasn't the heart to tell Jr that he sucks at his job, and that he has to go.
If the rumors were true, what family would be interested? Perhaps the Murphy's?? Didn't they own the Abbies at one time?? I don't think they'd have a problem putting money into the team, or bringing in the proper people to run the team. and they would certainly have a better gauge on Islanders than the Savards.
Something to think about.

Something to think about. I heard it was the western PEI family that recently sold their hardware stores to the Irvings... Thinking about it, I dunno if he's from the same family, or just has the same name, but Bill Schurman recently left his post with the Wildcats to return home

he is not moving the team. they just signed an extension with the civic center, i doubt he would pay to leave, and where would he go? there is not many markets left and the rocket are not the lowest team in attendance figures in the league

There may be an out clause in the contract, perhaps based on attendance or something like that. Can;'t really say without having seen the actual deal

One thing is for sure: the Rocket players don't play for Jean anymore... we had that in Bathurst in 05-06 with Durocher.
His time is over once the players don't listen anymore.

i doubt there is an out clause, on a 3 year extension.or was it 5 years they signed? i could see one on a longer deal, but maybe there is.

I thought it was a 5 year deal, with an out at 3 years.
But the 3 year out was just a rumor.....I never saw.....or heard any thing that confirmed that.
I would have to think that if things don't change for the Rocket, Savard would have no choice but to sell the team. Would the league allow him to move the team again? This is his 2nd go at making the franchise successful.

None of us really know what is in the deal, but, I really don't know if any of us care very much right now anyway

Was reading the Guardian this morning regarding the game last night and thought some of the comments from Jean was rather interesting. Jean being quoted from the Guardian: “You can see Moncton is committed to the same goal and right now our guys are not buying into it. Give Moncton credit. It doesn’t matter who they put on the ice, they work hard and go all out. They don’t think they can only play on their skill. We think that sometimes we can play only on our skill and you’re not going to win in this division if you play like that.” Sounds like he is blaming the players. Perhaps the reason why the players are not buying into it is because it doesn't work. As someone said before, we've never heard Jean take any kind of responsibility for the losses and I think this shows that he feels he isn't doing anything wrong, that it's mostly the player's fault. If the players know or feel that they are being blamed by the coach all the time without him taking any responsibility, then they are not going to want to play for him. A good way for a coach to lose his team in the dressing room. Here is a link for the rest of the article: www.theguardian.pe.ca/index.cfm?sid=66403&sc=99

I don't think Serge's house is for sale, I was just by there a few days ago and there is no sign up.

For Starters Serge Would never sell this team. Reason Being Of the name "ROCKET" They pretty much made the team its the team name they would never sell and they would have to if they were to and They can't move as the league states once a team moves. It can not move again Unless attendance drops way down Which it will never drop that low here no matter how much the team sucks. I was A jean fan but now i dunno he's not getting the boys to play for him He is not making good game day decisions he just lost whole control of the team and it just got worse. I don't know what the rocket have to do I don't think its just all jean I think its a players to cause u can't blame all this on him. If the players are picked to play for the team they should play not dick around It looks bad on them also. It would be really interesting to really know what is going on in that dressing room we have a good team If they played like they can we would be strong. but thats not happening and it sucks big time Friday night's attendance will be scary i think Its The teams own fault serge not following through on his comments in the paper about the team going to be a strong contender this season etc. Its everyones fault Serges.. Jean's... The players. This really has to be looked at before the team gets booed out of the rink..
