It’s going to be interesting for sure to see what Moves Jim makes, have to remember back as well in 2018 the team was not suppose to be that great and they pulled off a hell of a run to game 7 on the semi finals. I think the rebuild will be a little tough at first but with Jim I am sure we will be competitive, I don’t think we will see rebuilds like back in the Rocket days.
I agree though should move Guys like Guay now cause if we do have a bad start then his valve will not go down.

Well he’s rumoured retired he signing a 3 year extension so it seems like he has No plans of leaving.. also we do have lots of assets to kick off the rebuild. I think with Hulton it will be a 3 year rebuild which is the normal Cycle You do know these contracts have out clauses. If an opportunity comes up they can get out of the contract very easily. I’m not saying he’s definitely going I’m just saying he has made a name for himself and some teams might sniff around and see what he’s thinking. You never know.

For sure but there’s some guys who just enjoy the junior coaching I’m not saying he’s one. But like someone mentioned if he does leave I wonder if Guy would get the chance to take over if that was the case I think we would be in just as good of shape

Let’s try and keep this straight.
Biakadutuka to CB rumoured and no idea on the return.
Elliot to Drummondville rumoured and no idea on return.
Guay to BB rumoured and no idea on the return.
That leaves Plandowski, Brabenec, as big tickets to trade at Christmas. Hopefully Trudeau comes back and if so, he should get a strong return. It would be a kick in the pants if he doesn’t come back. You then have Roy, Lapenna and Stairs as players you’d like to capitalize on too. Both Roy and Stairs should be able to get you picks for this draft. Lapenna I’m sure there’s a market but it might be slim. With out looking I don’t know what teams might be looking for an upgrade in goal. IMO I’d want to have Gallant, and Maynard as 2 of the 3 20yos and use most these other guys to get multiple 2nd round pick at least. Hulton seems to love that round. This draft will be exciting for you guys.

Gave NHL coaching a try and came right back to London. Hulton has a family and the prospect of traveling across the continent while trying to be a dad may not be that enticing to him when he'd still likely be making good money here and travel is nowhere near as intensive as the NHL. Of course none of us have access to his thoughts, so all we can do is speculate what he wants to do.

Plenty of people have made a nice living staying in junior hockey
Hulton has already coached in the NHL..... and we all know the lack of job certainty there is in the pro ranks
anyways just let statsman be right.... you'll never win the argument
went to the appreciation night last night..... Hulton gave one hell of a speech ..... sure didn't come across as anyone thinking of leaving anytime soon

as for rumoured deals
i would expect we will wind up with at least 3 picks in the top 5 rounds for this years draft...... much better than how it currently looks
and if our scouting staff can keep finding gems late in drafts that can play and buy into the team identity I honestly don't care what the record next year looks like.... we will be more competitive than people think

The awards night was a fantastic evening. They had a great turnout…..it was a fun night….especially for kids. The players and coaching staff were very accessible and very engaged in talking with the fans young and old. It wasn’t that long ago you might go to an event like this and the players would be huddled in a corner on their phones only talking to one another. Last night the boys mingled, posed for photos, signed autographs, high fives kids. Everybody was proudly wearing Islanders team gear. Hulton gave a heck of a send off speech too. It was a fantastic year and we are so lucky to have had such a great group of guys on the team this year. Going to be a tough year or so but I don’t think it will be all bad for long. We have great players left that should fetch some solid returns.

There’s a lot of moving pieces but if the 3 guys who are rumoured to be moving no are then 2 of the 3 really hurt your chances of big returns. Elliot and Guay would bring back more at Christmas next year. Trudeau is key IMO. If he goes pro that another big loss to regain some youth. I looked through the league and I’m not sure many team will be in the market for a 20yo goalie so keeping Lapenna till Christmas might be the best move there. Hope when Christmas comes teams really need him. Hopefully you can get good draft pick this draft for Roy and Stairs. The more I look at it your 3 20s are probably Gallant, Lapenna and hopefully Trudeau. Trudeau would be a big trade chip at Christmas. If he sticks pro maybe keep Roy or Stairs who ever attracts the lowest interest. IMO take what you can get now for Roy and Stairs, go with Maynard as your 3rd 20.

When does the off season technically start for the Q this year for trades and such to go through?

But Simoneau went for RD_1, #11, 2021 (Dru), RD_3, 2023, RD_4, 2023, and RD_5, 2023 at the draft last year. Would he have gotten more at Christmas? Some people like to do their shopping early.......

When does the off season technically start for the Q this year for trades and such to go through? I think that in the Q trades are not made official until the day before the draft. You'll hear deals leak leading up to it but traditionally the Friday before the draft would see all the past deals completed. Not sure if that same thing applies this season.

Yes but both are rumoured as futures which are usually discounted. If they weren’t part of futures they’d be worth more later. Also you have to factor into Simoneau’s price it was a Q Mem Cup hosting year. That would inflate the price some too.

I suppose for trading now vs Christmas you'd really have to factor in which draft we'd rather start from. Which draft is deeper and more worthwhile for us to stock up for?
