With Hinkley retiring, does these mean that they call up and keep Alexis Jacques around?
I believe without him, they only have 6D on their roster.

They will need Jacques when Conrad is at the U17 tournament.
And he should stick with the Islanders after that. He’s a physical, 18 y/o defender with some size and a little bit of experience in the league.
When we brought him in he was depth….now without Hinkley we need that depth.

I agree Rutledge should get a second opinion and become a regular for us. We are thin on 04 players and Rutledge might even be able to come in and provide offense to be perhaps considered as a 20 y/o for next season. There’s not a lot of competition on our current roster for these jobs for next year….of course trades in the season and summer might change that. To a certain extent I wonder if they are waiting on what happens with Bowness and Todd before fully deciding on Rutledge…..but the reality is that if Rutledge was in competition with either guy for a roster spot, the case might be made he could possibly beat either guy out for a position on the club. I’d like to see more Rutledge. I would like to see them give a longer look to Rutledge. As I mentioned in the past, I feel he had a really good training camp. With his two games with the Isles recently, he picked up 2+2 for four points. He has 20 points in 10 games with Summerside. He has good size at 6'2" and around 200lbs.....and can play a better 3rd/4th line role then some players already in the lineup......IMO only. I'm not saying he can keep his strong offensive play going long term.....I just feel that he is worth a longer look then his two games.

The defense scoring in order.
Kersey: 11pts in 14gp.
Conrad: 9pts in 9gp.
Jacques: 2pts in 6gp.
Vos: 2pts in 14gp.
Duguay: 1pt in 12gp.
Topilnyckyj: 1pt in 11gp.
Michel: 0pts in 14gp.
Some concern... other then the top two....a 17yr old and a 16yr old leading the way offensively.

#20 Kian Bell, F, to SJHL (Battleford) Only had a goal in 8 games with Edmonton. Back in the SJHL, He’s put up 10 points in 3 games. Very weird…I guess his game just can’t adjust to major junior

You get the "tweeners" between all levels in all leagues. Think of the guys who can score with reckless abandon in the AHL but never seem to make due with their chances in the NHL.
We spend most of the last few months pulling for Keifer Lyons to have success. He's lights out in the MHL every time he suits up.....but just can't crank up the offense in the Q for whatever reason

The Islanders added 19 y/o defenceman Coen Strang via trade this morning.
The return is a 2024 10th round pick.
Strang is currently playing Jr. A in Amherst where he is 14-3-12-15.
Prior this year, he played for Rouyn-Noranda at 16 and 17 and part of his 18 y/o season.
There's no harm in increasing our defensive depth with Hinkley forced to terminate his career. It looks like Jacques might join the team full time. Maybe Strang is our first recall in case of injury. Or perhaps they bring Strang in for a look see. He brings quite a bit of experience on his QMJHL resume.

It's always really nice seeing players actually enjoying their time here where it used to be the opposite. Everyone that's been involved with the Islanders since the rebrand did an incredible job turning around the team's reputation.

For Huckins, he has 7pts in his last 5 games....and he has 5pts in his last 3 games.
Hopefully it's a sign of good things to come for the 2nd half.

15pts in 18gp for 17yr old Michaud.
Should be a solid player for this team the next 2-3 years.

Congrats to Will Allen who has been named to team Canada East for the 2023 World Junior A Hockey Challenge.
Would like to see the 18yr old up with the Isles full time.
