After the first game of the season, I had started a thread about some off ice stuff that the team could do different in my opinion or were doing well. Now that there's been more time, more games and I'm sure input with the staff, here's my second try at it.
1. I still hate, and I always will, the players introduction with the players introducing themselves on the video board. It's lame, it's boring, it sucks the life right out of the building. Have the announcer name them, he's really good! I mean, you can just tell how it kills the mood when you compare the crowds' reactions during the past years to this year.
2. The goal horn. I know at first I was saying to put Tomar's roar back into it, and they did for a little while, but now we have the Tiger's animation on the screen and probably the most annoying yelp/sound/what I can only guess is a cat who's tailed has been walked on. And it's played way to often. Ten times in one goal horn? I mean I know we don't hear it often, but come on! I much prefer an empty goal horn then hearing that.... thing.
3. The new guy doing the intermissions and prize giveaways in the crowd is really good.
4. I like Thunderstruck with the video before the team skates on the ice before the periods. Also having the pictures on the video board is a nice touch.
5. So far this year, I find the out of town scores have been severly lacking. They used to announce them during the intermissions, then they started to use the video board, but nothing lately.
6. I know we're used to this organization over hyping stuff (banners anyone?), but last night, I found that the horn for "nice plays" (it's the only thing I could think to name it) was over used. I'm not a fan of it in the first place. Having a horn blaring for saves, hits, icing the puck on the penalty kill? It gets pretty annoying I find. Permit the crowd to cheer. I know I usually stop when I hear that thing, as nobody can hear anyone over that thing.

You can not even hear what the player is saying when they introduce themselves. That horn was very annoying last night. Late in the third it even confused the players. They were up against the boards in the Rimouski end when it went off and they all looked around thinking it was the end of the period. I also agree about the out of town scores on the video board. When you are in a race for last place like we are it is good to know how poorly the other teams are doing.

Have the announcer name them, he's really good! I mean, you can just tell how it kills the mood when you compare the crowds' reactions during the past years to this year. I don't see why they can't just bring the whole team onto the ice at the same time, like at a NORMAL hockey game. It's like Moncton tries to make every game into a home opener.... and it clearly isn't working. Having a horn blaring for saves, hits, icing the puck on the penalty kill? It gets pretty annoying I find. Permit the crowd to cheer. I know I usually stop when I hear that thing, as nobody can hear anyone over that thing. No kidding, they seem to unwittingly do everything they can to subdue the fans at every opportunity... it's a goal horn, not a successful clearing attempt horn. While we're on the subject, why is it every arena DJ except for Moncton's is able to cut the music as the puck drops?

On the subject of music again, why the hell does the music suck at the Coliseum? I'm getting sick of hearing "clap your hands clap your hands, clap your hand if you can".
Anyway of getting new music? Or were the songs burned onto a computer when the Coliseum opened in 75.

Although, I kinda liked the players introducing themselves, I don't think it needs to be used for every game. Sure, use it the home opener, let us all know who you are, what you look like, whatever.. but not every single game. I love having Tomar up on the screen for a goal.. but like you, I find the new Cat noises or whatever it is they added, very annoying. Sure play it a few odd times, but the whole time the goal horn/song is going.. it's irritating. As for the guy doing the intermissions.. it's been a different guy the last few games.. all of them suit me just fine. As long as I don't have to hear Gauthier.. The out-of-town scores.. I think I seen them put up on the screen once this year. I'm sure there's been more times than that, but I am sure not much more. I just thought I would add this.. I noticed they've got a few new ticket plans.. there's one for Friday nights, a 12 game pack and an 18 game pack ( I think !? ) .. I think this is a great idea. It's something new and it gives people a chance to save some money on coming to games and it's an option for those fans who don't want to buy season tickets.

I really like the video segments they do with Les Stoodley - usually quite interesting, and gives me something to do while the zamboni is out after warm-up and during the first and second intermissions ... agree with the player intros being lame - no energy ... I know you can't please everyone, but the music during stoppages and between periods is horrid - tour some other rinks and stadiums around North America - NO ONE else plays the crap we do on a regular basis, and it sucks the energy out of the crowd and the team ... the new guys in the stands are great - wherever Gauthier is, make it be a one way ticket ...

How about the Aliant phone contest, is that not ear piercing loud or what.....
Tomars roar is the best after a goal IMO
As far a the intro sucking the energy out of the crowd, what energy, Moncton has always had a quiet atmosphere going back to the Golden Flames (except deep playoff runs of course)
I agree with Jimmy about Les and the intermission interviews.
I'd like to see them do something different with the t-shirt cannon, it seems the guy has the same goal of trying to put it in the press box each game...."way up top". From what I see all the kiddies seem to be in the bowl most nights.
"Clap your hands clap your hands.....clap your hands if you can......" ;D ;D ;D

All good points. The most annoying thing, as Dalkiel alluded to, is the Aliant cellular phone contest. That god awful high pitched dog whistle sound is just annoying. I noticed lately that they didn't play the ring as long as in the past, but surely they could find a less annoying ring than that. My ears are still ringing.

Like someone said there was never really that much energy to begin with but now it's even worse. Also like Milo said I've always wished they would just come out as a team at the start of the game. 2. Awful and beyond annoying 3. I don't really pay a whole lot of attention to that stuff, so I'm not going to comment. 4. Actually I find pictures to be pretty lame. Why can't they show a video of highlights (goals, saves, hits) instead of just showing random pictures of players? 5. Not impressed at all with the lack of out of town scores during home games this year. I'm always interested to know what's going on with other games so BRING BACK THE OUT OF TOWN SCOREBOARD! 6. The only thing I really can't stand is when they blare the horn after clearing the puck on a PK and there's still a substantial amount of time left to kill.

Leave the freaking lights on when a goal is scored so people can see the players' celebration.

I like Gauthier, he gave me free tickets a few times Tip on how to win the "Recycle your seats": Sit in the UB, around J-N on the end of a row. You have to be 2 people... I got them twice already this year... shitty hat and shirt tho but the tickets are good. As for the thread: Aliant phone contest sound sucks, I like the Tomar videos but they should go back to his roar, 'clear the puck horn' sucks, Video intros suck, Love the Les Stoodley videos, clap your hands suck... My girlfriend is a kindergarden teacher and she's sick of it so it's getting baaaaaaaad. I find the Oh Canada singer a bit dry... Good voice but no spirit... I miss Lyndon Slewidge...

I personally enjoy the lights going off when a goal is scored. I never had any difficulty seeing the players celebrate and it's an added touch to the team that you don't really see much (apparently PEI and Lewiston started doing the same thing eventually). I agree with Truckerdude (it's shorter to write) that Valmond Bourque, the anthem singer, has a great voice but is slightly lacking in the emotional department. Can't really blame him, that's his style, steady notes, perfect for a choir. However, eventally a change here and there is something I wouldn't object to. The cell phone contest drives me insane, but I thought that was a given that everyone hated and didn't bother posting it. If you're happy and you know it clap your hands... Only in Moncton.

Along with the out of town scores, would be nice to see the NFL scores on Sunday afternoons - I believe they did this briefly last season.

The only "kid" song I didn't mind was when Furball was on skates and would do the 'danse des canards' (sorry don't know what it is in english) in the intermission for the kids... then at least you'd see all the kids join in...
The in-game stuff they play now just sucks... they do the 'charge' one 3-4 times per game and no one pays any attention to it... no one pays attention to the clap your hands... the music just play sucks, RKI should can whoever is doing it and hire a decent DJ. The only thing on the video screen that seems to excite the crowd to scream (not cheer, just scream) is the "Noise meter overload explosion thing".
Out of town scores should be up in the 1st & 2nd official timeout & in the intermissions. They should also have the NHL/NFL scores on there... even a ticker at the bottom of the video screen during the entire intermissions would be cool.
When I first saw that video scoreboard I thought it was going to be the coolest thing in the world... only the Coliseum managed to make it the lamest one in the league. The only time I ever look at it is for the replays on the goals... and at that only if I really missed the goal or some aspect of it I'm unsure of.
