BJ: Thats a waste really. Fullerton deserves to be a starter in his last year of junior hockey. Let him start in Junior A. If you keep him on the protected list you can always call him up if Mayer gets hurt or things get really bad. Then you always have the 3 20 year old forwards in the lineup and don't have to juggle the 3 out of 4 20's. Canucklehead: You don't trade for Picard-Hooper, especially involving Amyot. Why? Because like Major said, we have no high expectations this year other than hopefully getting into the playoffs. Its the next year and the one after that where we expect something bigger to happen. So why trade a top young D prospect now for a guy that won't be around when we need him most? We're still going to be in desperate need of offense next year you know. Having an Amyot or whoever available for next year, should JB decide to make a trade to get proven offense, is more valueable than doing so this year. You do it this year and you lose an asset for next year when that asset is more important. Not to mention Rioux returning as a 20 is not a certainty, and that Stich is at risk of being gone by next year. Was Stich a JB pick or a Tipper pick? That could be as important as which Stich plays for us this year? First half Stich, or second half Stich? JB may decide he wants to free up the Euro slot and handpick him another. Either way Stich needs to have a big year this year if he's going to be a part of next year, IMO. So if you trade Amyot now, and Stich plays like he did in the second half, and Rioux doesn't play well enough to justify keeping as a 20, what is our returning D? Grant, Sauve and Despres...crap. Now we need D. See? Makes sense I see what your saying I'm just dropping names as possible candidates to have someone like Picard-Hooper come to the Sea Dogs anythings possible I'm not saying I expect to win this year but we need to make sure we make it into the playoffs this year and things don't look good for F. Charland so far health wise.

boy gallant wanted to go with Sawyer awful bad. the Macdonald and Lewis fight was a nice one. What was the score? like 11-6 or so. Mayer looked awful. I think mayer is just breaking in the equipment or something like that, maybe he just isnt givin it his all because he is pretty much guranteed a spot on the team, was wondering if the white and blue bauer nike pads are what he is going to be using this year, because i thought the sea dogs had a deal with RBK or something.

Also you got to remember Mayer grew up playing on bigger ice surfaces and I would guess the angles would be different than on the smaller ice surfaces. Let him get his feet wet and get use to it before we start criticizing.

Resendes, Resendes, Resendes......................come one you guys can not be serious somehow I think everyone is forgetting that he is playing against alot of guys who are not Q caliber. He will quickly become invisible once the talent level picks up. I could see if he was was younger but no way should he be on this team especially at 20 years old. There are plenty more skilled already out there then we can get for cheap if that is the route JB wants to go

I'm more concerned with this Resendes problem. Yes, it's a problem. This guy can play. His stickhandling needs work and he is quite small but boy does he fly and our team needs his speed. He makes smart passes too. He plays with more jump than just about anyone out there and IMO is making it near impossible to cut him. Why? Because of this... We picked Mayer. Why do you pick Mayer if you are not sure he is better than Fullerton, or at least willing to take the chance that he will be? You don't burn that type of high Euro pick on a guy you aren't committed to having in your starting lineup. If there was any doubts on Mayer being better than Fullerton, you draft a Euro forward since the team is in desperate need of offense. If Mayer is not your starter you just wasted the pick. Picking Mayer has nothing to do with management confidence in Fullerton. It may, in fact, have more to say about management confidence in Dopud and St-Laurent than anything else. It's been publicly stated that Mayer has made the team, he'll be in the lineup. You think this boy can seasmlessly leave his native country across the pond, into a new culture away from family and friends, new coaches, new team-mates, play 65 games in the Q for the team that last year had the most goals against, and perform well enough to keep his spirits high and further develop to his potential? If he can then more power to him, but that's one hell of a gamble and a hell of a lot of pressure on Mayer. He came here to develop, not be stunted. Honestly to expect that of him right off the top is unreasonable and unfair. Travis Fullerton can shoulder that load with him and help him adapt more quickly to the Q game and Q lifestyle. Otherwise you pair him with Dopud? That gamble is too much, remember the goal is to make the playoffs. You need steady goaltending to get there, and we saw Fullerton can provide that. Highly touted as he is, Mayer is unproven, and you have no idea how he'll react to his new surroundings. How that can translate into wasting a pick on Mayer is beyond me. Going with two rookie tenders is nuts. You want this team to make the playoffs? Don't pin your hopes on two rookies in net or we'll be sailing into 3 straight non-playoff performances. We can't, and we DON'T have to. We have Travis Fullerton. What would I rather have? A 20 year old tender who became a fan fav last year by showing the fans what it looks like when a goalie STOPS the puck, and who can act as a steadying hand/mentor to our rookie stud goalie, or a speedy 20 year old who's never played a game in the Q? Did you hear? We already have Jordan Knox. You want Resendes then send Knox home. I'd keep Knox. I got nothing against Resendes. In fact it's good to have another 20 year old trying out. I just think making a case for him over Fullerton after two days (and from what I've heard Mayer hasn't been stopping everything in sight) is dead wrong. The Dogs have a much better chance at the playoffs with Fullerton than with Resendes.

GEE Killer you are way off base on that one Resendes isnt the only one out there against so called low talent!!! They are all in the same boat and he is shining. It was me that suggested to Major and Leask that maybe you move Fullerton or keep the 4 20's to make room for this kid. At least for a month or so, and if Hop-Along Charland is going to be true to his past its a no-brainer

I can see it now: Langan, Resendes, and Knox, the Ankle Biter Line! Those other teams better beef up their shin pads.

I seen Francis Charland on the ice in the first period cuz I didn't expect to see him out there anybody know if he played the entire game or just and couple shifts during the first period? Maybe testing it out? If he came back out at all it wasn't serious. It's either a bruise, strain, or cramps.

Watched the rest of the game from the stands.

Like I said wait until the fringe players are cut and we will see Resendes game become very ineffective

Finally got down to see the 07-08 DOGS today....looks like a solid group, cant wait to see them play on saturday nite. A few observations from here... Ryan Sparling- looked good ..hope they keep him said in the paper he looks forward to being a leader on this team. David Stich- thought he looked rusty...either that or bored Brett Gallant- wanted a piece of Sawyer...gave him a real hard shot across the wrists in between the benches Mike Thomas -looks real dangerous..skating well Alex Grant - looked very confident..should have a solid year Andrew Langan-dont think hes ready for this level yet ...good hands though Dido -seems like he has matured ...was a leader on the bench ...did a lot of chirping at the whites Steven Anthony-he looked alright....only one game though...sure hes better than he seemed today ..almost invisible to me Jordan Knox- real steady on his feet ...quite quick but not litnin' fast or anything though.. worth20yr. old spot in my opinion Nicolas Pard-24th on my roster ...sure can roof the puck Simon Despres-WOW....I have a new favorite seadog....move over Stich.....cant wait to see this guy in a couple of years Tony Resendes- too bad hes 20...real fast but you dont want two 5 foot 8 20's in my opinion ...and K nox already has that spot. Cant wait for a game to get a better idea about the new guys.

For the record and to give credit, Littlewolf thought up the idea. I rolled my eyes at first but I agree with it, FOR RIGHT NOW.
Did anyone have getting Mayer on their radar? NO. Everyone was all fine with a Fullerton/Dupod tandem next year, or at least wasn't talking about different goalies until that draft. It was all "we need offense!" Now suddenly Mayer/Dupod is not good enough? Please.
Also I clearly stated "if Resendes keeps playing like this". You can say he is playing against a bunch of cuts, which is true, but he is also by far the fastest player on the ice and thats counting every single one of our established players, Killer. He plays with a level of effort and intensity that matches most anyone from our team last year (except Dido who busts his ass at the highest level). IF he can keep up that kind of play and it isn't just early camp adreneline, I like him. That all may change with his small body and super speed when finally someone lines him up with a hard hit. Its going to happen and given how small and fast he is, it's gonna be a whopper of a check. IF he can handle getting knocked around, keep the speed and not get injured/timid, I say keep him.
I didn't say release Fullerton. You protect him. You let him be a starter in junior A. He's only a callup away after all if someone gets injured or goes into a slump. Also where the heck did I say Mayer plays 65 games??? Not many starters on any team play 65 games. Come on.
This goes beyond Resendes really. If you can get a better 20 year old forward without selling the farm, go get him and do the same as outlined above.

You call up players that are younger for injuries not a 20.................plus who says he would even want to come back to play a few days after being cut.......................I know most people would tell them to go pound sand.
