On a less Deep D-Unit i think that Pisano might be able to hang at 6 or 7...but we just have way to much depth and with a bonafide fighter in Gallant. Things arent' looking too good for him.

Actually things look kinda good for Pisano. Quoting that article this morning... "It's a good problem to have because a lot of teams don't have eight defencemen that can play in this league and we do right now," Beaulieu said. He thinks we have 8 guys. We who know the first 7 are. Pisano definitely is the best looking so far of the rest at camp on D. Combine that with rumors that we may be going with a 25 man roster to start the season... looks good right now that Pisano might still be here when season starts.

Exactly I think he's the 8th man too he's really the only other dman outside the 7 that I've really noticed so I'd tend to agree but he'll only be playing if there is an injury or maybe to give McNeil a night off here and there when they need enforcers ;D

True enough, how old is this guy? If he is only 17 or even 18 maybe getting some solid minutes/fights in Jr.A and staying on our prac squad is a good idea? Sure he'd get his work in during practice but it wouldn't really help him develop all that much...

The fight I saw him in he was less then impressive. I do think we need someone else to shoulder the fighting load other then Gallant. We might be able to pick up a physical guy on waivers, this is also another option as a few teams in the western divison have a few role players that will be up for grabs

The only fight i saw him in was against Finlay, and he went into that fight like any guy using his reach should. He waited till JF was close enough for him to come over the top but far enough away finlay couldn't grab on and get inside. If he keeps guys outside in a fight he won't ever get hurt...Now can he keep a legit 6'3 guy outside...only time will tell.
From what i heard he pumped that other Mugford kid too?

No way is he 230¿ Thomas may fit the bill in the roughness department. He'll have to the way he's hitting. I was impressed with young Luc Leblanc on Monday. We really don't have room for another 17 Dman, but I'll be watching him develop this year. I think as Lala implied after the draft, he was a steal. He could be a December callup.

He could be 230, those lanky boys always seem to look like they weigh less then they do. I think a kid like Leblanc is exactly what we need, if he can develop into a 7th spot and maybe Pisano can get into a 6th that opens up some room for us to trade a couple of our other D-men for some scoring up front.
I mean its possible we have 5 guys next year capable of playing 1-3 on most teams...so we could afford to shed some D.

It is funny how different people see things differently. Not saying Luc Leblanc doesn't have a chance to develop into a player we can use in the future but he looked nowhere near ready to be playing in the Q this year, from what I saw. Not even close.

The fight between him and Mugford was terrible and hardly a beating...........They were both in too close to land anything serious. I can;t comment on the Finlay fight because I was not there.
Players like Bruce Graham were 6'6" 230 and he would make Pisano look like a toothpick I think he would be lucky to be anymore then 200 IMO.

Well Brad Tesink from SJ weighed in at 235 at the titan camp, and i was on the ice with brad 2 weeks ago and he doesn't look that much bigger then Pisano...so i'll give him at least 215

The 8th d JB is referring could be Scott Macdonald. He has looked steady out there and is coming off a great midget year with Dartmouth i believe. At 17,he can fill the role of 7th D and not be in the lineup every night. This would likely spell the end of McNeil.

Not saying Luc Leblanc doesn't have a chance to develop into a player we can use in the future but he looked nowhere near ready to be playing in the Q this year, from what I saw. Not even close. As a former D man that's what I watch most. He was poised, had good gap control, stayed between the attacker and the net, pivoted very well, moved the puck well, and made good decisions. He's not huge or strong by Q standards and not real quick. He also wasn't getting beat. I never saw a shot. I saw a future solid 5-7 guy that will not hurt you with stupid decisions and who can play a solid, though not exceptional, pp. Development of strength and speed needed. No room now, but I'm encouraged enough to watch him this year in Junior A or Midget AAA. He is still 17 I hope.

Have to agree, of the new faces out there, I would go with McDonald as well seemed real poised and ready to take on the responsibility of the 8th if need be....that said this is the only time Ive seen him play...could disappear up against real Q opponents
