I agree if Mayer plays strong and shows no signs of having problems adjusting to the Canadian style of game then we should consider using the 20 year old slot up front maybe having a look into Peters from the Mooseheads. He scored 22 goals last season playing mostly 3rd and 4th line and some powerplay time. If we added him that number should increase by a fair margin.

How about this then? If Mayer shits the bed in pre-season I agree to keeping Fullerton around obviously. But if Mayer is playing close to Fullerton's level or better than Fullerton in the pre-season, Fullerton should be cut and we should go with a 20 year old forward, whoever that may be. (assuming one is available that can contribute offensively, be it Resendes or someone else.) Never really thought of it that way. Thats the best idea IMO. Thanks Mr.Leask

There. Agreement reached. I consider this at an end then....until Berner comes back into it and the battle begins anew.

What happend between Sawyer and Gallant, wish i had of saw that...i would have loved to see gallant knock him out. I think if Pisanoi had another inter squad game against gallant, they'd go...we could tell then if he is legit. The two of them were changing on the fly ..dont know what happend to start it ..but they tied up coming thru the center having words and Gallant came down hard across Sawyers gloves/wrists...Sawyer tells him to go ... himself and Brett gave him a shot in the back of the head when he turned to go into the bench...thats what I saw I know JB said no fighting ...but Gallant looked like he wanted to go.

There. Agreement reached. I consider this at an end then....until Berner comes back into it and the battle begins anew. LOL I agree with Killer's arguments obviously, until he backed down... I really don't feel you can judge Mayer's capability of shouldering the bulk of the Q schedule (and while 65 games may have been an exageration to make a point, surely you get my point - pick whatever number you want for a 'starting' goaltender, I'll bet you it's a lot more than Mayer is used to playing) based on pre-season. Really you can't make that analysis accurately until XMas. Anyone else feel Fullerton looked tired at times near the end of last season? He really played major minutes in the second half. And with Resendes, as I already mentioned - we have Knox. Take a gamble on one 20 who hasn't played in the Q, not 2. Especially when he's only 3 apples high. And Tommy Lange looked good enough in pre-season to make the team, didn't he? I agree Killer, I think we'll see sharing of goaltending AT LEAST until XMas. Then decisions can be made on the goaltending. As Killer said, big difference between Fullerton/Mayer tandem versus Mayer/Dopud. Huge.

If you want to use Resendes as a 20 year old then you will have to release Knox, you can use one of them but not both as I understand it from the League rules.
"Each team of the League can register and play with three 20 year-old players or players who will have turned 20 by December 31st of the current year, as long as their names were registered on the eligibility list of the team on February 10th of the previous season, except for one of those players whose name could not have been inscribed on that admissibility list."

One thing we all know is that this is not the official rule; it's a translation. The official rule is in that other official language.

Not saying you are wrong there. In fact I'll even say you are likely correct. It is the safe option. I just presented another one that was a gamble for sure but one I'd like to see happen. Maybe it doesn't include Resendes if his play suddenly takes a turn for the worst. Maybe it does. It just applies to adding a third 20 year old forward to the mix. Also, I like Fullerton so that has nothing to do with it. I won't be upset if they go with him and 2 forwards, but I'd like to see some "calculated gambling" this year. I like this gamble. Nobody was crying about a Fullerton/Dupod tandem this year before we drafted Mayer. If a Mayer/Dupod(or young backup whoever) tandem is worse than a Fullerton/Dupod tandem, we never should have drafted Mayer. Nobody had a problem with Fullerton/Dupod because we know what we will get from them at this level......................the difference is pegging Mayer as starter right off the bat when he hasn;t even played a single minute in this league before. With the teams fighting for the last few playoff positions I think my first priority would be to have solid goaltending which we have and should get again from Fullerton. We should know a bit more after the preseason And the kid needs a mentor. He very likely speaks both english and french, but he's got to be very green. He probably saw his first real body checks with Thomas on game #1. You know he hasn't seen a fight yet. He's never had 230lb freaks crash his net. What's he gonna do if there's a brawl and Yetman or some other goon goalie comes charging after him? If we want him to lead us to the promissed land the next two years, we have to provide him all the help we can.

I know i'm not going to see gallant fight cause of what JB said, but you gotta think he was itching to go with him. I think the goalie situation will clear itself up rather fast, if Mayer is as good as everyone says and proves it maybe there is room to move fullerton. If not they can play together....

I would think everyone was told not to touch JC. The kid is here to get ready for a a pro tryout. He has no need of this garbage. I bet JB talked to Brett rather sternly after that, regardless of who's at fault.

Just watched the 1st period of the afternoon game, team white was all over blue. Big 14 Pisanoi or w.e his name is, whiped finlay all over center...I was hoping to see Gallant fight him, 14 is clearly the 2nd toughest guy out there as of right now. The Blue goalie got beat on all the penalty shots, however they were all nice moves. NO chance Pisano is tougher than Gallant or Grant.

I'd like to see him go with Grant, same size Pisano might be bigger actually. But so far he has hammered shorter guys....too bad we won't see that
