Interesting. Who do we know that will be throwing down a bid? SJ, CB, Sha, Hal?

Is CB really still in the running? ... Them buying this year leads me to believe they will not be a strong enough team in 2 years likely the weakest of the 4 teams mentioned and not alot of assets to improve that either.

Using what criteria? 2009 bidding used: * 25 per cent: logistics (accreditation, transportation, lodging and volunteers) * 20 per cent: hockey operations * 20 per cent: arena * 10 per cent: organizing committee * 10 per cent: marketing * 10 per cent: hosting of CHL events * 5 per cent: finance Halifax can compete with SJ and SHA in all of those, I'd think.

I think it will come down to Halifax and Saint John. It seems that it's been alternating between a Quebec team and Maritime team lately. I also see Halifax having a pretty good team for contending in 2001-12. The experience the younger players are getting now should pay off in two years. I think Cape Breton is a pipe dream.....they don't have the seating capacity right now (they're close, but it would be just scraping by the minimum 5000 required). As for hosting in 2000, that will be 12 years between hostings.....that means nothing to the League as long as they are making money! It's all about the $$$$

Sure it does but no way they are gonna give it back to Halifax when they have a city like Saint John that has a great arena, brand new state of the art score clock, hotels within walking distance to the arena and possible not even have to venture outside. Then you have a city like Shawinigan that just built a brand new rink and has never held the tournament since the beginning of the league. Good luck! I know Halifax has a lot to offer to I'm not suggesting that but yesh ya gotta figure some of the other cities are going to get the Memorial Cup before they go back to Halifax again.

I wouldn't doubt Halifax will be in the top 2 the arena holds 10,595...for a concert u can fit 12,000. Downtown there is lots of Hotels within walking distance of the arena and we just got a new scoreboard fairly recently too.
