I wouldn't read too much into Mackinnon sitting out the Quebec trip. With the President's Trophy wrapped up, there is quite literally nothing to play for going down the stetch and the team should rightfully be erring on the side of caution. The squad certainly isn't lacking offence in his absence, so why not let him get the extra week rest and still have a handful of games left to get him up to speed for the playoffs.
As much as I enjoy watching the Mooseheads pummel teams after so many years of being on the opposite end, I am really looking forward to the postseason. Outside of the top 5-6 teams, everyone else seems to be going through the motions. Saint John and Bathurst both put up zero resistance this weekend. The Moose were able to roll over them both going about 65%.

I agree that there is no sense rushing him back... my comments were regarding the fact that he has NOT been rushed back, and still isn`t ready apparently. I just wonder if this is a bigger injury than they let on.

So nice... wish he scored on the first shot, but chasing the puck down and doing it again was nice too. Moose have a highlight reel too, but I find you can see it better on John Moore`s video.

Wicked.
Good game all around. No goals in the 3rd period against Saint John in both games, so no letting off the gas pedal today.
Sucks that MacKinnon won't be making the trip, but as mentioned, there's no sense in rushing him back at this point. A little worrisome that the injury is worse than expected. But I think they're just being extra careful.

I know the NHL's President's Trophy is probably the source of the confusion, but tonight the Mooseheads clinched the Jean Rougeau Trophy, NOT the President's Cup/Trophy. That award goes to the Playoff champ.
Along with their first Rougeau trophy, the Mooseheads are well on their way to their first Luc Robitaille Trophy (most goals scored) and their fourth Robert Lebel Trophy (fewest goals against).
As far as individual awards go, Drouin has a good chance at a handful, including MVP, Scoring Champ, and Best Professional Prospect

As much as they weren`t good in front of the goalies, you can`t let them off the hook either. They didn`t make many good saves at all. Bathurst just played tentatively for the most part. We threw out the top unit for that 5-3 early in the third and once they scored, then the 3rd/4th lines played most of the minutes the rest of the way.

I guess it was a combination of both... unless Bathurst really packed it in that badly, which they may have.

Purolator Courier picked a good game to offer 100 lbs of food to Feed Nova Scotia for every goal scored lol.

Ugh... good to rest, especially now that we clinched... but certainly seems more serious than was thought. It was said he was hurt on the shift before the one where he limped off - I wonder if it was a twisted leg, knee, etc... With first place overall clinched, there is NO reason to bring MacKinnon back before he is 100% ready. You want him healthy for the playoffs, to bring him back before then, other than to maybe get him in a couple of games to get back into the swing of things, get his timing back, would be idiotic. You know opposing teams wouldn't mind taking an extra (cheap) shot at him; no sense in risking that unnecessarily. They probably won't need him for their first series as they'll be playing the #16 seed (Shawinigan, Sherbrooke, etc.?). They can sit him for that series if they have to. They should keep him out till after the two Moncton games, we don't need him to get Saulnyaid.

1st over all would be achieving our first objective for the year. They did it with style. Still when you face a bottom feeder like Bathurst 11 -3 is to be expected. The domination tonight was impressive. Even our 4th line had shifts where the puck was in their zone the whole time. Every line contributed. I almost felt sorry for Bathurst on the 5-3, have you ever seen a 5-3 when the team with 3 players, 2 of them had lost their sticks. They had no chance. Murphy is impressing me more and more each game, he seems pretty calm. Baily is also doing OK.for a guy who played the first part of the year in Junior A. Alberthauser is a beast, on the play he set up Andrews he made a great stick check in the defensive zone, another amazing play at the blueline then a perfect feed to Andrews. MacKenzie has already tweeted that TSN has their highlite of the night already.....that would be Jo. FUN!!!!!!!!

Besides clinching it with an 11 goal game they did it with10 games left in the season, a 17 point lead on second with 2 games in hand, while leading the league in goals for and against and this big win just happening to put them at an even 2:1 goals for vs. goal against ratio with 302 goals for and 151 against. In style. Shocking is that the Moose, with 2 games in hand, have a whopping 57 goal lead over ValDor who have scored the second most goals this year...

Ok I just want to clarify in case I am wrong. But someone on Rink Rant congratulated the Moose coach on his team winning the Presidents Cup/Trophy, and someone on here said we cliched the Presidents trophy. Inst the Pesident cup after Play-offs determine winner. THey just won Jean Rougeau Trophy right.

Sorry Beaverbank just realized you wrote the same thing and I had not refreshed. My mistake, but I am allowed to make those mistakes I am just a normal poster with no pretty banners or awards. Although some of my posts have been funny as hell over the years. LOL

Man that game was some one sided, the way the Moosehead dominated made it look like the Titan didn't even want to be there.
I give the Titan credit though for not getting greasy.
