I'm pretty sure guys like Jaskin, Duffy, Currie and O'Brien play each team in the league the same amount of times as Drouin does... give or take an extra game against a different Quebec-based team. So I don't get the "Bottom feeders" discussion. Actually, the fact that with 10 games left, we have yet to play Shawinigan x1, SJ x1, Bathurst x2 and Cape Breton x2 means that we've had a tough schedule over the first 58 games.

Difference is: Drouin doesn't have to play Halifax 8 times although posted as a joke, that alone could be enough to win the scoring title over any other Maritime player.

The one thing about Drouin is that he has been pretty consistent and not so much beat up on the weak teams. His 4+ point nights have been against: PEI, Drummondville, Rouyn-Noranda, Bathurst, Quebec, Chicoutimi and Saint John so that's pretty level. It's the same with his 3 point games. As much against top-half teams as it is against bottom half teams. Yup and the 11 goal Moose game against SJ was before the trade period when they were a decent team. I am looking at the bigger picture though in that the Moose dont run up the score more against crappy teams than good. Drouin does not play them by himself and it all means the same thing in the end.

Holy bleep! I'm guessing defence back then was an ugly rumour, something teams avoiding like it was the plague! Just mind-blowing, especially after seeing what hockey is today. The contrast between hockey then and now is staggering. Not to say one time is better than the other, just saying it's wholly different. Wouldn't mind seeing some of the offence from back then getting into today's game, especially at the NHL/pro level. Players are different now, better conditioned, stronger, faster, bigger, probably more technically sound through coaching to the nth degree (today the game is overcoached. Offensive creativity isn't as encouraged as it used to be. Seeing Drouin gives signs of hope, but some pro coach will stick his system and ego on him and stifle some of the skill he has. It's one of the reasons I'm not as much of an NHL fan as I used to be). Interesting seeing the names of players who would eventually play in the NHL, and some played for the NS Voyageurs.

You look at Sorel that season, and they had 7 players with at least 119 points, 3 players with at least 200 points, and 3 players with 90+ goals. As a team they scored 620 goals (8.86 per game). Somehow this team lost in the league final to the Quebec Remparts in 6 games. Scored "only" 61 goals in 14 games; losing games 5-1, 7-6, 9-7, and 8-4. Won games 6-2 and 9-4. 2 games with double digit goals (11 both times) 2 games with 9 throughout whole playoff.

Only thing a trap was used for back then was catching fur in the woods.
